I'm adding a new title which is a live concert and there's this credit role I can't understand, there's a Tom/Bing and Assistant Tom/Bing credits. I wonder now what they mean and where they should be put to.

I have added many live/concerts and music related titles to IMDb and have seen many uncommon credit roles. But this one doesn’t sound familiar.

In this case, does ”live recording crew” refer to TV/video technicians rather than sound? Meaning, that there are many ”live sound” technicians.

Yes, I believe so, sound technicians are listed separately, and all the other credit roles are pretty common -

Perhaps it’s related to online/internet, since ”online” is mentioned before those credits? Some concerts are streamed via internet and some has video screens on the background etc. In any case, perhaps best to add them to Misc Credits/Other Crew section if you can’t confirm them.

Eboy, you logically pointed to the right decision, I think. Both "tom" and "bing" should be in "Other Crew" section.

Probably two credits, yes, but then again I’m not sure what they mean (perhaps meaning ”one thing” after all).

This is a tough one, I found this - http://www.persvenssonsoundart.com/INFO.html which could relate to this individual. No clues on name though.

Hi, everybody:

This is a summary of my little research on this topic:

A) TOM:

B) BING:

Therefore, IMHO...

CONCLUSION 1: TOM = Technical Operations Manager / BING = Image Engineer.
CONCLUSION 2: We need more Swedish people in the forum...

Man, I thought I was good at finding obscure stuff on the Internet with a few clues, but seeing your skills in that is like next level. I can only hope pick a few skills deconstructing your researches.

Ah, Technical Operations Manager could be the key, not sure why I didn't thought of that. I guess it’s now better known as ”Technical Manager”, but anyway.

( It still goes to Misc Department, though. )

Wow, you guys are awesome I dare say!
So, I'm adding TOM as ”Technical Manager” to Misc Department and BING = Image Engineer = Vision Engineer to Camera and Electrical Department? That seems correct.

You can always click the icon next to the box where you can write the occupation. From there you can check the various (some not very common, some perhaps older - there are probably hundreds) occupations.

In Misc Crew/Other Works, there are:
11,507 technical manager
1,232 technical operations manager
(There are also a few with simply ”tom” or ”bing”)

In Camera Department, there are:
59 image engineer

I’m personally not sure where the ”image engineer” goes in this case, since tom/bing are bundled together in this production.

Before first post here, I had also checked the professions the same way but 4 sections (any possible, including special effects), and only "Other crew" includes the "tom" and "bing" both as we see them on screen in this case. Btw, "tom" is not a problem.

The research of ljdoncel is perfect as always. However, I'm not 100% sure how the result can be implemented in this particular case for "bing". As we see in the on-screen credits, there is either "bing" in English (so is it ”image engineer” as well?), or "bing" as "bildingenjör". I totally agree with ljdoncel that "We need more Swedish people in the forum", and like to add "professional in image processing", because the way those guys wrote the credits is weird. On one hand, from the ljdoncel's research I see they used to mix Swedish and English variants of related thing in one word (e.g. "bildmixer") or sentence, so maybe it's a kind of professional slang or official tradition... But on the other hand, I saw the "bing" in other productions some years ago, and now don't remember was it Swedish or not, unfortunately.

In view of the above, it would be great if the "bing" cases existing in the IMDbase are checked to see them all in Swedish (and Scandinavian in general) production or not only. If other countries are also involved, we can not be sure. If only Sweden, then the IMDb team should be addressed with a ticket to change all the "bing" cases into respective English variants, I think.

Hmm, 'technical operations manager' should be fine as it it then, submitted.
Now I'm not sure about the 'image engineer' thing myself, heh. Shall we then wait for a staff member to conclude this?

Hi Krister,

Apologies for the delay, yes the image engineer should be submitted to the Camera and Electrical Department.
