Too much info.

Hello! New here. I have a profile page which wasn’t created by me and I was happy to leave on as it contained the most basic information. However, last night I noticed someone (?) has updated it to include my partner’s full name and my son’s full name AND birthday. I was horrified that someone has access to that through IMDb. I checked colleagues profiles and they are just basic info with cv’s. Has anyone else had this? It’s on basic IMDb not Pro. I don’t have a pro account. I’ve requested an edit but I can’t see any way to remove it myself.

Karen, Hello.
Information such as this which is publicly known is regularly listed in the biography and trivia sections on IMDb actor/actress pages.

See here Bruce Willis

Hi, Karen O. What is the 18-digit reference number of edit submission? Please bear in mind that the information may not be eligible for removal, since it is only consists of names and birth dates, as opposed to something like mailing addresses, identification numbers or non-business contact information.

Thanks for your replies. The problem I have is that I am just an ordinary person, not an actor in the public eye. My son’s birthday is not commonly in the public domain. IMDb states that it’s ok to put information about children on the site but won’t display my dress size- that’s against the rules. I feel that is a somewhat skewed outlook.

Thank you. I’m not after a name but it would be good to know if it’s imdb who add personal data or whether it was a member of the public. The help pages indicate that it’s imdb who add info like that. I’m very puzzled as my profile is extremely uninteresting and I looked at many of my colleagues in the same department and none of them had such personal information added to their profiles. I understand new data laws prevent this type of info about minors being added but anything added pre these laws is evidently still on there. And I am dumbfounded at a company that advocates personal info such as your child’s full name and date of birth being added for anyone to see but you cannot state someone’s dress size.

IMDb did not add or research and add it. A user did a contribution submission. Technically a member of the public added it, but they were a registered user. The IMDb has over 100 Million registered users. Any one of them could add data to a title or name page.
