Could an admin help with these submissions please?

200516-170215-516000 (The Opposite of Sex)
200527-102610-856000 (The Crystal Maze)

I've submitted these edits several times now because I thought maybe there was glitch, but each time it said approved but the changes weren't made.

Also this submission has been declined several times, even though my edits for the rest of the cast list went through:

Also this contribution 200218-170653-802000 was declined. In the credits for Apocalypse Now it says Scott Glenn plays "Lieutenant Richard M. Colby". It should be "Captain Richard Colby" (he is referred to as this in the dialogue and he wears a Captain's rank insignia. In the film's actual end credits he is actually just called "Colby" but along with the other characters he has been listed on IMDB with his full name and rank. But he is definitely not a Lieutenant.

IMDb does not seem to stick to their rules regarding this topic.
A reprint of the rules about character names.
https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/cast-acting-credits-guidelines/GH3JZC...#

F. Character Names

Wherever possible, we list character names as they appear in the on-screen credits. We make occasional exceptions when character names are not listed on-screen or when the character descriptions in the end titles include spoilers, but as a rule we try to stick to credits as closely as possible.

According to "Rule" it should be listed as just plain Colby. But then the occasional exception comes along which is a grey area. It is sadly undefined as to what constitutes an "Occasional Exception"

Either the help topic needs to be clearer, or this rule needs to be applied without exception. Otherwise their will always be someone adding Lieutenants, Sergeants and/or Captains, and there will be always be someone deleting said submissions for violating the help guidelines.

Contributors need to know somehow if the addition of the extra extension of the character name beyond what is seen on screen is an fully accepted "occasional exception" or an incorrect character name that needs to be corrected according to IMDb's rule that the credit mimic to what is seen on screen.

But if you take the actual wording to heart, along with a full comprehension of it's intent, then Colby should be the only conclusion that can be drawn from the rule. Captain should be out. As is the whole cast if someone has added ranks to the characters that have none in the credits.

Sorry

Did not intend this to be so long!

Good luck gman84

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

The first 2 submissions were unable to be applied due to a conflicting data issue.  Please re-submit at your convenience.

The other submissions contained no screengrabs which would allow our vetting team to see the errors in the data.

In order to help our staff verify the credit, we suggest you obtain a screen grab of the credit and include it within the explanation field when submitting your update. Please note, the below only applies if your submission was placed via the IMDb.com Desktop title or name page - for all other submissions, please see our help site (https://help.imdb.com) for further information or details on how to contact us.

To add additional information to your submission, see below:

    1) Upload the screen grab of your evidence to an image/file sharing platform such as imgur or Dropbox. We're unable to access sharing services if login is required.

    2) Find your original submission in your update history (https://www.imdb.com/updates/history)

    3) Verify that all the data is still valid. If you need to update/amend the information, you can do so now.

    4) Tick the box which says "Provide an explanation to assist in processing this submission" and click Check these updates.

    5) In the Explanation field which appears, you can input the URL (note: If this is password protected, please include the password here.)

    6) Submit the form.

Our editors will review the image and comments you have supplied and use them to re-examine your update. If they can verify that the submission is eligible to be included, they will accept it.

If you are not listed in the end credits and you cannot provide us the information requested above, instead please provide us with any pay stubs and/or call sheets for review and we will look into this further for you - at least one link is mandatory but the more evidence you can provide the better. Also please be aware that if approved onto the website you will be listed with the additional attribute '(uncredited)' to reflect that your name was not listed in the end credits.

You can do this by following the steps explained above and our editors will review this request further for you.

Please note, to protect customer data, our systems do not accept direct attachments.

For more information on the attribute 'uncredited' please see the following:Thank you in advance.

I resubmitted those 2 submissions, it says they've been approved but 4 days later, the change still haven't been made.

Here's another submission that was declined, despite me providing a news article as proof. On Matthew Frauman's trivia it says "Dating 'Christina Ricci'." They broke up 20 years ago, she's now married to someone else.

When is IMDb going to implement uploading of photos during the submission process?

It’s pretty silly to add these ”is dating xx” in the trivia section. ”Dating” could literally mean a few days or maybe just some weeks. But it’s forever listed on IMDb. Simply doesn’t make any sense.

Agreed, it doesn't make sense. That's why you can delete them. From the bio trivia guide (https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/names-biographical-data/biographical-data-guidelines/GMT9...): "Information about dating that does not constitute a significant relationship." is an unacceptable bio trivia item. You can send in deletion requests pointing out this part of the guide.
