Trailer videos are playing at low resolution

On my iPad, the IMDB app playes trailers at decent quality. On my Windows 10 PC on a Firefox browser, the format of the HTML5 page defaults to playing trailers in a very small window. When I blow this up to full screen, I notice that the video resolution does not change and there is no option that I can see to increase the resolution. Its a terrible user experience on Windows with browsers. Is there a fix/workaround?

FYI, just tested in Google Chrome as well. Same problem. I now play trailers on YouTube. You folks really need to fix this.

@Claire - Firefox Quantum v67.0.1 64bit, Google Chrome v75.0.3770.80 64bit and Microsoft Edge 42.17134.1.0 Microsoft EdgeHTML 17.17134

1. Go to https://www.imdb.com/
2. Click Browse Trailers which is linked to https://www.imdb.com/trailers/
3. Click on any movie icon to start playing a trailer, the trailer will start in a small window in the same browser window
4. Increase the size of the video play screen by hovering over the small trailer window and clicking on the diagonal up/down arrow to the bottom right of the trailer window.

Alternatively, you can also click on the movie title link which takes you to that movie's IMDB page. Play any trailer in the video section.

Let's select Ad Astra as an example. Ad Astra's link is https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2935510/videoplayer/vi919321625?ref_=tt_ov_vi

Compare this to Youtube's quality at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6AaSMfXHbA

I can easily compare this as I have dual monitors with the same resolution 1920x1080.

IMDB's trailer video does not allow you to select to play at 720p or 1080p. It just defaults to a grainy version of the trailer. Even Apple TV's Trailer app plays higher resolution trailers (just like YouTube) than IMDB.

Unfortunately, in terms of quality trailers, IMDB is no longer the place to go until this is fixed. Hope this info helps you folks fix this.

Thanks for the details on the problem. We are sorry to hear about this.

We have on-going work at the moment to improve the video player experience over the coming months, however, it is going to take some time to fully deploy.  Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.

Thanks @Col Needham. Might be worth mentioning that awhile back - can't recall how long now, IMDB didn't have this problem and all the trailers were super crisp so something you folks did - perhaps introduce a new layout/function/feature seem to have broken it.

Hoping to use IMDB again as the one stop for all my future trailer and movie information needs.
