I'm trying to remember the title to a movie. What I remember is very vague though. I'm pretty sure it was in the 2000's. It's based around some neighbor hood thugs/friends, possibly in a gang??? They are white. The main character is a quiet young man that works in the bar they all hang out in, I think. There is a bully type character that takes credit for a missing kid that's presumed killed several years earlier. The quite guy is the one that really did it. This is revealed at the end of the movie when he kills the bully in the bar. There is a detective that knows the truth but can't prove any of it. The detective confronts quiet guy at the end but can't do anything cause there is no evidence. I know there are some main stream actors in it. I must have been drunk when I watched it, cause that's all I can remember.

"A History of Violence" with Viggo Mortensen, maybe? Although I'm not sure about the missing girl. It's been a long while since I saw it.

No, it wasn't that one. And it wasn't a missing girl. It was a guy that went missing, or murdered and this "bully" took credit for the killing but he didn't actually do it. He took credit for him to make himself look like a bad ass. But it is revealed at the end the "quiet guy" was the real killer and the real bad ass the whole time.
