This is basically a duplicate of https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/unable_to_export_my_user_ratings. You pretend like you answered this question when you didn't. This is a problem tons of people have had for years, and your not doing anything to fix it, except lying to users.

Sorry, yes, there is a ticket for this internally, but it requires quite a long term solution involving rewriting more than one IMDb software component in order to split the data into smaller pieces to deliver each one in turn and avoid the timeouts.
The solution is not going to be soon because we have to prioritize what we work upon and only a small number of users are affected, since it tends to be a combination of connection speed (or at least throughput from IMDb to the end user system) and the size of the list (with only extremely large lists affected).

So ADSL of 15MB/Sec is insufficient for downloading your lists???????? I used to be able to download when on only 3MB/Sec.
So any list of 200 is considered to be extremely large ????????? What on earth do you call a 10,000 item list?
Prioritize??? Yes keep on making changes that nobody whats and ignore those that are needed.
Small number of users. How do you know? The number of reports here cannot be used to judge how many are affected.
But thank you for at last acknowledging this is a problem after ignoring it for over 2 years.

Could some users get an export just once? I have a workaround of adding stuff to watchlist and exporting that, but I would like all my old ratings.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Export of ratings not working.
I've been trying to export my ratings, as I have done many times before. After 9 or 10 attempts, I have to believe there is a big with the changes to the ratings page.
I've always had a little bit of problems with exporting, maybe due to the size of my ratings list which is now nearing 20,000. Today, the page just spins and then comes up with the D'oh page.

I thought the list limit was 10,000 yet there is reference in this thread to nearly 20,000. How is this possible?

Because they are talking user ratings. There is no limit to how many titles you can rate.

Thanks, so if i rate everything i saw 30 years ago my list can be longer? That seems odd to me as still a list!

Odd? What do you want them to do, limit you to rating a maximum of 10,000 titles. With a user generated list you can once you get to 10,000 start another list. Whether imdb can do that with ratings is unsure. And lets remember you are not creating a list, you are rating titles which imdb offers as a list for you. It is not the same.

I only have 4,500 ratings, and I can't export it as before, either. Please help. This is important to me and many other long-time IMDB users. It is a main reason I go to IMDB to rate all movies I see.

The export works as a spreadsheet. Thanks!
But I can't get a copy of just the titles and ratings by date, as before, It's listing web addresses and is quite messy. I also can't copy and "paste special" without formatting. I don't see how to get it into the lists I need. Anyway, it's there, and that's something.

Just made a test.
3 lists of sizes 2,853, 10,000 & 22,881 titles successfully exported. The largest (ratings) needed two attempts but it struggled through.
It has taken over two years and many users and staff blaming me, my ISP and location as the reason for exporting failure but now it is clear; it was IMDb software all along.
On further analysis the new export file sizes are half that of previous and only have 12 columns of info versus 16 in the old. Missing is:
Directors
You rated
Release Date (month/day/year)
URL
I could live without all these except "You rated".
But where has the compact view of lists gone? Jeez you fix one thing but remove/break another.
Merry Xmas.

Thanks for confirming. You can follow progress on fixes to the exported data fields over on the main list thread at https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/update-to-list-pages
