I was not in this production, but another user has added me as a partygoer. Why is it so difficult to remove 'uncredited' listings on IMDB? I just don't understand how another user is permitted to add a listing with no evidence, but I can't have it removed? What evidence do you want IMDB?

All users are permitted to add data they believe is factual. I personally have added hundreds of items of data over the years. I do not add things that are false. Yes mistakes DO happen. But it is rare. While you may read a lot of complaints here about topics that are similar, overall they are but under 1% of the total submissions made. Under a percent!

Once data has been added, it IS darn near impossible to remove. Granted. Frequently an actor will come here saying that they were not in a production because the part is so small that they figure that it is not worth mentioning, or a project that is so poorly directed and edited that they would rather not have people know they were "Involved" with it.

Unfortunately the database is a reporter of accurate facts. You may "Claim" it is inaccurate because "You" say so. If the contributor that added it is a long time trusted contributor or a contributor that has never submitted inaccurate data, then IMDb is suspicious of removing credits from requests such as yours.

It's nothing personal. Asking to prove that you were "Not" in something is a request that can have no answer. The only way that can happen is an attentive watching of the entire film in question. That is an impossible task. If IMDb were to undertake this it would grind to a halt daily operations. There simply is not enough time to do what your asking. Plus you may be visible in a production in the blink of an eye. One could miss your screen presence easily. You are listed as a party-goer. This would imply a brief on screen presence.

So this will be IMDb's position..........Not mine but theirs.

I tried to delete data, but it still appears on IMDb. Why?

IMDb aims to be the most comprehensive and reliable source of information on movies, TV and celebrities. We are committed to accuracy and it is our longstanding policy not to alter or remove correct factual information from our records.

However, IMDb will not remove accurate information. If you try to delete an item of data which is accurate, your delete will not be processed. Please be aware that attempts to delete accurate data will count against your overall accuracy rating and may result in all your submissions taking longer to process along with additional proof requirements.

Thanks for offering your view, and whilst I don't disagree with your assessment, this isn't an official response from IMDB and doesn't provide a solution to my problem. As you've 'answered' my query I'll just have to put another post up and hope a customer service representative provides a response.
