EDIT: I posted this as a reply on a similar question and then I discovered I could create my own 'Problem Ticket'. So my apologies in advance for the duplication of posting content.
What if you are a victim of something similar and you get axed. Is there anyway to recover an unfairly deleted posting history? You may remember me as ToniHunterOne. I had to create a new identity because I stumbled and got on the wrong side of someone.
I've never been disciplined or sanctioned until I went on the board of someone recently deceased. I was curious as to how he had died. I 'voiced my condolences to the family and friends in threads, etc. I then skimmed the posts and was noticing comments about Heath Ledger. I didn't know - hadn't read anything about this... thing. So I very innocently asked 'What is the story behind Heath Ledger's death'? I had a feeling I might get trolled so I put in the subject line pretty much just that. Something like: Subject: This might cause me trouble but...
and then in the body I asked because I truly didn't know and think it unconscionable but not improbable that people would make fun of a deceased person. Oh, I remember it was after James Gandolfini's death.
"What happened surrounding Heath Ledger's death?"
There were far worse comments on Gandolfini's thread than my innocent question. NOT ONLY did my thread question of Gandolfini's board get deleted but so did my entire five year history to postings and I was placed on a punitive hour long posting clock. No questions no queries, no recourse. I would have asked here sooner If I'd found this section but I only now discovered this part of IMDB.
It really angers me that one IMDB user can be so suddenly wrongfully and viciously be destroyed without opportunity for redress.
Oh, and I was NOT in any violation of any of the IMDB rules, etc. I can't explain other that I was made an example of by the others on Gandolfini's thread and a truly was in ignorance.
The way I look at it, the IMDB community now has heavy cliques that can bombard a user without cause. In a sense bully a user without cause or provocation and the staffers and moderators allow the accused to perish without facts to support the sanction.
One further point: If I was unfairly sanctioned by an IMDB bot then that makes me doubly angry. In other words, if complaints went through and my entire history was deleted without review by a human, well if I discover that's what happened then I will quit IMDB all together. It would be a shame because I enjoyed adding and correcting the DB regarding old movies and TV shows. And I enjoyed commenting on the threads where I have friends.
