Unsolicited editing

On the 17th September 2019, I posted my review of "The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1994)".

I have only just accessed and checked this to discover that although 'approved', it has been EDITED - WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!

This is NOT ON! This is underhand and - probably - ILLEGAL in some way... to change my words!!!

I would appreciate a response (NOT from "ACT I", please).

Please read this. Note the last section highlighted and underlined.

https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/contribution-information/user-review-guidelines/GABTWSNLD...#

What not to include:

Resist the temptation to review on other reviews or features visible on the page. This information (and its position on the page) is subject to change without notice. A review form is not an appropriate place to tell us there are errors in the database. If you'd like to tell us about a specific problem, please click the 'Edit page' button near the bottom of the title page.

IMDb is pleased to provide this forum for you to air your opinions on your favorite (or not-so-favorite) movies and TV-series. While we appreciate your time and reviews, we respectfully request that you refrain from including the following in your review:

  • Profanity, obscenities, or spiteful remarks in either the body or header of your review.
  • Time-sensitive material (i.e. mentions of events, promotional tours, seminars, lectures, etc.).
  • Avoid unannounced spoilers! Please don't reveal crucial plot elements, if you include spoilers without warning readers in advance, your review may be subject to removal. To label a spoiler make sure you check the 'contains spoilers' checkbox. Also, please never include spoilers in your review header as this is always visible.
  • Square brackets [ and ] are not allowed apart from when used to link names and titles
  • Phone numbers, mail addresses, URLs, email addresses, links to Twitter or Facebook pages etc.
  • Availability, price, or ordering/shipping information.
  • Advertising, promotions or solicitations of any kind
  • Writing in ALL-CAPS! Writing sentences in all-uppercase characters is considered "SHOUTING" and must be avoided.
  • Content in languages other than English
  • Do not include personal opinions on real life events or subject matter on which a film is based.

Any review in violation of these guidelines will not be posted or may be edited to conform to the guidelines. In addition, IMDb reserves the right not to post any review for any reason.

And as a second notation, the underlined.........Here.

Additional Notes:
  • All submitted reviews become the licensed property of IMDb as set forth in our copyrights page.
  • Your submission must be your own original work.
  • Please write in English only. HTML is not supported though paragraph breaks will be inserted if you leave a blank line between paragraphs.
  • The maximum length for a user review is 10,000 characters.

Okay, I stand corrected, but...

It also states: "Your submission must be your own original work". Edited ('censored', really) submissions are no longer the original work.

What's the point of submitting anything when it could be tampered with, manipulated, twisted. The change of even one single word makes that submission no longer one's "own original work".

Furthermore, if it becomes the 'property' of IMDB, then how come the original author can delete it?

If you do think that Steven Kings work was not edited before publication you are mistaken.
Great authors works are run through the editing process all the time. You are no different.

Heck, I make polls here. There are 5 Poll Board Editors. I have been told on many occasions to "Edit" something. I do as they say or the poll does not get published. As the "Borg" would say, "Resistance is Futile"! LOL
"You Will Comply"!
Cheers

No that's "editing". This place is not your playground.
There are no mistakes..........Only reality.
Editing has been going on for centuries.
Don't like it? Buy your own island and be King!
Otherwise the terms of use for IMDb apply.

Please see the guideline below in the quotes.........
Don't just complain. Contribute solutions.
If not, then you are just trolling. Get Satisfaction does not like or tolerate excessive spamming and trolling.

                                             Get Satisfaction Community Guidelines

Get Satisfaction is a community of real people who collaborate on answers, solutions, and ideas about the products and services they love — and the ones they wish were better. We invite you to make your mark here, but we do have a few rules — as few as possible. For everyone’s sake, we are committed to enforcing these guidelines, as well as Get Satisfaction’s Terms of Service.

Be your awesome self

People will respect you more, engage with you more often, and treat you like a real person if you use your actual identity here. Have the courage to be you — instead of “Riot Grrrl 72′′. While not mandatory, we think you’ll have a much better online experience when you stand behind your actual words.

Win friends and influence people

Get noticed! Get Satisfaction is designed for discovery, direct involvement, and personal recognition. Connect with people around your mutual interests. Talk about what you care about — your passions — in a way that reflects who you are.

Tell it like it is

We’re into transparency, honesty, and truth. Don’t misrepresent yourself or lie about your identity, affiliations, or age. This community is based on the contributions of real people who put their reputations on the line. Be one of them. Ask tough questions and reward the candor of others.

Have (good, clean) fun!

We’re cheerleaders for any activity that encourages the spirit of fun, so long as it doesn’t hurt other people. Please, no blonde jokes — or any words or images that come at the expense of others. Be sensitive to other users around you, and, in general, don’t post sexual or violent material. Those things kill conversations, just like in real life.

Be constructive with your criticism

Professional critics have something to teach us: They foster healthy conversation and debate without ever attacking people personally. Think about that when responding to others, and ask yourself the question: Would you say it to their face?

Spread the wealth

Make the community a richer place by sharing your experience and insight. You may have the perfect answer to someone else’s burning question. This is the substance of Get Satisfaction. It’s how you give back to the community.

No hawking!

This is a community, not a baseball stadium. It’s okay to talk up the products or services you love (or sell), but only if it’s relevant to the conversation. If you’re here to plant a ton of links to your Web site without doing much else, your posts are likely to be removed by a moderator.

Don’t be naughty

Make sure you have the right to publish any content you post to Get Satisfaction, and don’t violate the privacy of others.

Be fruitful, but don’t multiply

Don’t create multiple accounts to violate these guidelines, game the system, or harass and deceive other users.

No trolls!

If you’re not sure whether you’re a troll, read up on it here.

Those boots were made for walking
If Get Satisfaction isn’t for you, there’s always the door. We’ll miss you, but we’d hate for you to stick around if you’re unhappy.

Thank you for considering these rules, which are, themselves, carefully considered. As with any community, it’s up to each of us to create and participate in open conversations that can bring us together — and sometimes tear us apart. Our hope is that by sharing our passions we will grow more passionate, more wily, maybe even a little crazy, but we always pledge to be engaged and open to other voices.

Editing a movie or a review without the permission of the author or director is censorship. I’m sorry, my friend.

Author gave his permission.
Ever hear of terms of service?
It acknowledges your knowledge of all terms therein.
So please do not mislead persons here because you are upset at IMDb.
Stick to your own topic and stop being an agitator on other posts for the pure reason of disrupting normal operations.

So please do not mislead persons here because you are upset at IMDb.
If your intent is to disrupt only and not "Help"  you will eventually have your account tagged. You already have issues with contribution blocking on your account with IMDb. It could extend to Get Satisfaction. Take it from someone who crossed the line. I know where that line is. You are very close.
Please take my advice and stick to your post.
Your intent is to disrupt.
Not to Help.
