We have also made several changes, listed below. These changes only impact the Your Ratings page on the IMDb desktop Website. You may find much of this information by creating and running custom searches on the AdvancedTitle Search page. For example, to see comedy titles you have rated, sorted by your rating, see this advancedsearch. Or, to see titles you have rated that are in the IMDb Top250 list, see this advancedsearch.
What did we change?
1. We removed the Compact list view. This was accessible from the far right icon (see A in the screen capture below). The grid view and detailed list view are still available.
2. We updated the “Sort by” dropdown box. It now provides the two most popular choices: Most Recent (previously called Recently Rated) and Top Rated (previously Your Rating). Sort by: Your rating, Title A-Z, Release date (US),Number of votes, IMDb rating, and Popularity were removed. See B in the screen capture below.
3. We removed the Refine ratings filters options from the Your Ratings page on the desktop site. See C in the screen capture below.
4. We removed the Find More Titles tab. See D in the screen capture below.

5. We removed the Recommended for You section on the User/Ratings page.
6. We changed the format of data in the Ratings Export. You can export your ratings to Excel by clicking the new overflow menu (the 3 vertical dots) above your list in the updated experience, and choosing Export.
There are many ways to find new titles to watch. IMDb users can use Advanced Search, look through the recommendations for new titles to watch under People who liked this also liked... on any title page, or see Top Rated Movies.
Thank you for your continued support.

You mention six things, five of them start with "we removed". Why did you do this? This doesn't make any sense to me, not at all.

I'm a user for 17 years, and this function I really loved with imdb.
I also use the advanced search, which is good, but to find my own rated films this was far the best way to get an overview e.g. for a film I don't remember the title for.
Hope you'll re-introduce it!
This new is only useful if you forgot the film you saw yesterday!

How do find this list: All titles Feature and Tv-Movies I've rated with a 10/10 sorted by imdb-rating in compact view, and only the best caracter no 9/10. That will be about 170 films.
Can't make it with advanced search, or it's too advanced for me.
I can only get a complete list of all films I've rated and it's sorted be the film I last saw/rated, in stead of imdb-rating as I'd widh.
Please help! This sorting functioned in My Ratings.

This should accomplish what you requested for Feature Films.
Feature Films You Have Seen (Sort by Your Rating, desc)
http://www.imdb.com/search/title?title_type=feature&my_ratings=restrict&view=simple&coun...
Note to IMDb Staff: There is a problem with Advanced Search sorting by "Your rating".
Both of these produce the same results, sorting by Your rating (Low to High)
sorted by Your rating (High to Low)
sorted by Your rating (Low to High)
This can be corrected after the the search is done by clicking Your Rating▲ to produce Your Rating▼.

But here it's sorted by the fuilms I've last seen.
I don't like that. I would like it sorted by the imdb.rating, so e.g. Shawshank Redemption and The Godfather (which is on top of imdbtop250 would be on top on my list as well, if I rate them as 10/10.
It's unteresting for me to have this sorted by the last 10/10 I gave. That's what I remember best! I didn't search for this to find out what I saw last!!!
So if this search could be sorted after the contraint I wanted or chose, it would be good.
The former ratings page did that.

1) I get also films I've voted other than 10/10.
2) the list coming out still shows the last films I've seen and given 10/10 on top, and not by user rating descendig as I asked for.
Here my search:
http://www.imdb.com/search/title?my_ratings=restrict&view=simple&count=250&sort=your_rat...
I'd also like to exclude TV-series and episodes. How do I do that?

I see my ratings in order by MY votes, which means you selected Your Rating (high to low).
If by "user ratings" you mean wanted to sort by the IMDb average rating, then you should have selected User Rating Descending.
Previous replies guided you toward sorting by Your Rating because this is the only way to see your 10's together. And there is not feature to sort by Your Rating and then second criteria of User Rating. You may need to Export your ratings and use a spreadsheet to see exactly what you want.

I think advanced search is good, but it is very advanced, and there's still constraints which aren't possible!
I miss the way i saw my ratings descending and ascending from My Ratings-page, which did what I wanted.

I have 5220 titles rated as of now. I can't find anything there anymore. Can't filter by year, genre, type ... zilch. IMDb was my preeminent place online, in general (hence the religious zealousness of my ratings), but now I'm afraid it'll be just another forgotten bookmark.
It is truly bewildering to me what the point of this change is? What is your philosophy regarding this website and who are your target audience?

IMDbPro is a subscription service aimed at people in the entertainment industry. It is not a super set of the regular IMDb service in terms of features, and is not aimed at non-professionals. It has a simpler interface with more data and then additional professional services layered on top. For details on IMDbPro see https://help.imdb.com/article/imdbpro/membership-benefits/what-s-included-with-an-imdbpro-membership...
If you are an IMDbPro subscriber and wish to manage lists or vote or access advanced title search then you still need to use the regular IMDb.com site and/or apps. IMDbPro is an enhancement to be used in addition to IMDb.com, not a replacement.

You should be able to perform all of these searches (and more) via advanced title search @ http://www.imdb.com/search/title
To restrict the results to titles from your ratings history, see the section towards the end:

and note there's a wider range of sort options at the end of the form:

For example. How can I filter my ratings now to see all movies I rated 9 or 10? In advanced search I only can filter user ratings but not my ratings. Also in the result view I can't sort by my ratings, only user ratings. This is completely useless.
After you remove the boards I thought it could not get worse, but I was wrong again, you guys keep messing up IMDB.

This list may not have enough info for your needs, but notice that mouseover the title also shows director and first-credited actors.
A lot of us miss the Compact Mode of viewing our Lists for a variety of reasons, including our Ratings list.

The new "Rating by demographic" section on each film's ratings page is truly unreadable. Why did you change this? The way it was previously was easy to read at-a-glance as it was nicely formatted one thing per line, with a graph I do believe. Now, it looks like a webpage with broken CSS - just a plain white table. It's ugly.

If you click on the number of votes, you can still see a graph limited to the selected demographic.

That was far easier to see at-a-glance what each demographic thought of it, and get an idea of the variation.
If I am honest, though, most of the information is unnecessary. US and non-US users has no bearing on me, or anyone in a country other than the US, as you group us together... and IMDb was originally a British company. And the amount of times I actually care what the average 20-something female thinks of a film, I can count on one hand.
Perhaps a simplification, with a "more" option to show the rest of the options, would be more readable? I personally only look at Top 1,000, IMDb staff and the overall rating. That leaves 16 ratings that I don't care about.

I constantly post my ratings of films on the IMDb to keep track of all the titles I have seen, and to refer back to in case I need help finding a film or unearthing something I have forgotten.
Currently, my "Your Ratings" page can only sort films in the orders of Top Rated and Most Recent. However, I recall being able to track films based on the number of votes they have. I am now trying to plan a screening series of under-seen Canadian films, and it will be very time-consuming for me to go through every page to track down the films I need.
I want to know why there are fewer options to sort through ratings. I also recall being able to look at a film by genre, year of release, the star-rating (out of 10) I gave it. Today, I looked on both Safari and Firefox browsers, and nothing. Any idea where these options went?

I have noticed a problem with the ratings totals. In my case it tells me I have 7,285 ratings. I keep a separate excel spreadsheet and know that my total ratings are 7,240. When I export and go to the last line in the excel spreadsheet it tells me there are 7,285...however, the export inserts 45 blank lines which is not good. I wanted to bring this to your attention in case you were unaware. It is frustrating to not know how many total titles you have voted for unless you export, open in excel, sort by title, and go to the bottom to see your true count.
Also, I am disappointed that you have eliminated the ratings filtering options. I used to have over 20,000 ratings because I rated TV episodes, but I could not export a file that large because it would time out. The filter option was the only way I could get my records exported in batches. After 5+ years and being told my problem only affected the few and would not be fixed I simply removed all my TV episode votes and just voted for the TV series. (This is why I'm now just over 7,000 votes) However, if/when I reach that "file to large" timeout, I will be unable to export my ratings.
Now I want to appeal to you as a long time user (18+ years) and a Top 250 contributor, if/when this happens I hope you will provide an alternative export option or I will probably no longer use this site. I have found many other websites that provide functionality that you have removed...like message boards. Please don't force me away.
Thank you,
David

Your correct count is 7,240 -- the 45 blanks in the export should correspond to titles which were on IMDb at some point and have since been deleted or merged. Since you have voted for them it is more likely these are all merged duplicates. We do need to fix the export though so thanks for the reminder.
You can still filter via advanced search at http://www.imdb.com/search/title and this change is part of an on-going software improvement process which should eventually eliminate the old timeouts.

Col,
Thank you again for the quick response. The ratings export file does show my correct number of ratings which is now 7,271. However, on the "My Profile" and "My Ratings" pages it is still displaying the incorrect total of 7,316. Currently, the only way to know how many films I've voted on is to export my ratings, open the file in excel, and scroll to the bottom to see the correct total votes number.
Any estimate on when the orphaned records will be cleaned up on titles that were removed for me and others this affects?
Thanks,
David

The /[username]/films/diary/by/entry-rating/ view on Letterboxd shows basically the view that I wish IMDb still offered. I did find exporting my data to be very easy--thank you for that. The importer on Letterboxd is currently free, so all I had to do for now was change some headings ("Const" -> "imdbID"; "Your Rating" -> "Rating10"; and "Date Added" -> "WatchedDate") and write a little script to convert the WatchedDate to "YYYY-MM-DD" format.
However, I appreciate that IMDb has much more data overall (e.g. TV shows!), so I really wish I didn't have to use another service.

Also, as suggested above I tried the "export" function in the "my ratings" page and it is a total disaster: all the movies are listed in their original titles instead of being in my native Italian language (i.e. an obscure "Omoide no Mânî" instead of a familiar "Quando c'era Marnie"), and ordering per voting date is basically impossible (if I select it the result is odd, a film rated on "Tue Oct 10 20:32:19 UTC 2017" is followed by one rated on "Tue Oct 11 01:01:01 UTC 2011" and then by one rated on "Tue Oct 14 21:10:53 UTC 2014").

Starting Nov 6, the URL for the RSS feed for my user ratings loads a regular IMDb Ratings page instead of producing a valid .xml output with the RSS feed contents.

The interface becomes more simple for new customers; we no longer embed advanced title search features into a ratings page; and we can centralize the software on the advanced title search page, which in turns means 50% less software to maintain. The result is that once all of this work is complete, we can more quickly enhance the advanced title search features instead of having to duplicate the software in several different places. It is short term pain for long term gain. You should be able to do almost all the same sorting and filtering (and more) than you could do before via http://www.imdb.com/search/title
Charlie Fulton
I don't see any way to view the date one voted for a movie in any part of the new interface anymore. I guess that info is only accessible by exporting the data, now.
Marco
Obviously, I know about the advanced search. But what I really liked about the features on my Vote History were that I could see within one mouse-click how much feature films, episodes, series etc. I had seen. The same goes for genres. I've tried, but I don't see how I can do this via the advanced search, expect for one by one. (first looking at how much films I've seen, then going back and seeing how much series I've seen and so on, and so on). Also, there doesn't seem to be any way via the advanced search to see when you've voted for a certain title, which WAS possible via the old way.
You said:
Maybe I just missed it, so can you (or somebody else who's more computer savvy than I apparently am) explain to me how to get the things I mentioned above?
Also, I really don't see how this is easier for newly or "old" users. I personally found the old way very intuitive and super-easy to use.
Another question: If this change "means 50% less software to maintain", why wasn't this said in the announcement post? That way, users might better understand the reasoning behind it. As I've said before, communication is key (especially now the message boards have gone and you can't easily reach most users anyway).
Lasse
IMDb could be a great and fun tool for sharing and comparing ratings and watch lists with friends (considering that watching movies is most often a social experience), and then you actually make it harder to find, view and compare information. I'm simply amazed by the lack of ingenuity.
What other updates (ie. downgrades) are you planning to do in the future?
Gff Hh
I just want to be able to see my ratings by release date ! That seems like a very, very basic function for a film and TV series database like IMDb !
I can't believe you have removed this function that I used regularly. This is going to make my life harder. I find it jarring to call such a downgrade an "update".
