Today we have made several updates to our Ratings pages and functionality. We have improved the design of the ratings details page to give it a cleaner, more modern look.
We have also made several changes, listed below. These changes only impact the Your Ratings page on the IMDb desktop Website. You may find much of this information by creating and running custom searches on the AdvancedTitle Search page. For example, to see comedy titles you have rated, sorted by your rating, see this advancedsearch. Or, to see titles you have rated that are in the IMDb Top250 list, see this advancedsearch.
What did we change?
1. We removed the Compact list view. This was accessible from the far right icon (see A in the screen capture below). The grid view and detailed list view are still available.
2. We updated the “Sort by” dropdown box. It now provides the two most popular choices: Most Recent (previously called Recently Rated) and Top Rated (previously Your Rating). Sort by: Your rating, Title A-Z, Release date (US),Number of votes, IMDb rating, and Popularity were removed. See B in the screen capture below.
3. We removed the Refine ratings filters options from the Your Ratings page on the desktop site. See C in the screen capture below.
4. We removed the Find More Titles tab. See D in the screen capture below.
5. We removed the Recommended for You section on the User/Ratings page.

There are many ways to find new titles to watch. IMDb users can use Advanced Search, look through the recommendations for new titles to watch under People who liked this also liked... on any title page, or see Top Rated Movies.

This is totally ridiculous. I currently have 1700 titles rated and like to browse through some of my old ratings (and it also takes me back to a certain time and place, to know what I rated when). If you're asking me to "Load More" versus go to the "Next Page" that displays the next 100 titles, it's going to take up so much memory on the computer. I might as well have never rated those titles if I can never go back and see them.
Why are people obsessed now with limiting functionality? Nobody complains because a site has too much functionality.

Bloody hell, I havent noticed that. Load more is definitely not going to do when trying to browse more than 1000 titles back. Hopefully though they plan to develop this new barebones version.

With the latest changes to the IMDb ratings page, I now have what I consider a serious problem. On the "My Ratings" and "My Profile" page, the total number of titles I've rated is listed at 7,320. However due to titles being removed from the database, the total is actually 7,275. The only way to really know how many titles I've voted for is to go to the "My Ratings" page, export the file, open the file in Excel, drag to the bottom of the spreadsheet, and look at the final row number. Then I know how many I've actually seen. This is incredibly frustrating.
As a software engineer/web developer, I know there is a way to remove orphaned records from the deleted titles table so that your pages will reflect correct number of titles I've voted on. Could you PLEASE do this?

I used my ratings almost every time through the listing view. Now this feature seems to be retired, or will it have a comeback? I'm really missing this view and its statistiscs and options. I really, really hope, this comes back or either 11 years of rating won't be as satisfying to me anymore. Sadly. Thanks Björn

Mr Needham isn't listening. A deluge of complaints and he hasn't budged. I asked days ago whether users had been consulted about these changes. He didn't deign to answer but the user response is all the answer we need. We don't matter.
So, so true. Mr. Needham's silence to the universal revulsion to these changes is a resounding answer in and of itself. He either doesn't care about our concers, which is an indicator of the contempt IMDB has for its users, or his masters are pulling the leash tight around his throat. The situation reminds me of other disasters where the evidence of incompetence is plain to everyone but the authors of the catastrophe do their feeble best to convince everyone nothing has happened and there's nothing to be seen. Perhaps the managers of IMDB should run for Congress; their uselessness would be more at home there.

He did say they need to rebuild the functions on a new system. Now why would they need to remove the old system everyone relies on before that happens if it does, idk.

Well, 65 is quite a lot, Andru, although maybe only a small proportion of the overall users. And for every one who has posted there will be maybe hundreds more who are not annoyed enough to be bothered or to work out how to post. I don't see many (any?) who think the changes are a good idea.

I just want to make it very clear that this does NOT improve functionality. Basically the only upside to this "upgrade" is that this makes things easier for your coders. That's not how you make a user-friendly and useful website.
Now this can be an opportunity to show that you care about users here and their feedback and want to build a website everyone can enjoy. Or it will make it crystal clear that all that matters for you is to spend the least you can while advertising films for Amazon. Be careful or your true priorities might show.

The functionality removed from the page Your Ratings, remained on the List pages. Maybe you will return the functionality to Your Ratings. Or you plan to remove the functionality from List pages too?

When these changes were first implemented, whenever I exported my vote history it was not sorted by "date rated". Nor was it at all obvious to me how to get my spreadsheet program to sort IMDb's UTC time format.
Happily, this bug appears to have been fixed. When I exported my vote history yesterday, it was sorted by "date rated" the way it used to be. Thus, exporting your vote history now provides a "compact view"-style list. It's certainly not a ideal substitute for the compact view, but at least it's a workaround that works now.

3. If you leave the ‘Title’ blank you can choose everything else that was on the left of the ratings page before
4. Under the ‘Your Ratings’ section, choose the radio button to restrict to titles you’ve rated
Voila, same list as before, and while it requires a couple extra clicks, the list compliation is faster.
But it's not the same as before, as you can't sort that list by "Your Rating" or "Date Rated".
For all intents and purposes, you really need to export your vote history and manipulate the spreadsheet to be able to do anything useful anymore. That's what I've resigned myself to.

Yes, you can sort by Your Rating. They recently added that to the choices on Advanced Search. But not Date Rated yet.
The fact is that before these new "improvements" the site was far more
practical, far easier to use, and even far better looking in terms of
pure aesthetics. And I am writing this after I had, let's say,
"familiarized" with the new layout during these last days.
The Compact View is completely gone, and as basically everyone else have already pointed out, it is a total disaster. The Grid View and Details View were organized in pages of 100 titles each, and one could easily check for the movies they were searching for in chronological order, by navigating to the corresponding page. Now there is just one infinite list of movies, all on one single page, and we have to scroll down and click on the "show more" button dozens of times to get to find the films we need to. It's a much more complicated and time wasting process, to the point that I stopped doing it. I just don't open the ratings page anymore.
Another thing that I don't honestly think has been an intelligent choice, is that now every single movie card in the list have the "add to watchlist", "get showtimes" and "watch now" options. Movies that I have already rated, so I have already SEEN them. Don't need to see them again, so I don't need any of these new features.
If the goal was to get a more user friendly interface, especially for beginners, I think these changes you've made have had the exact opposite effect. They rendered the things difficult, annoying and impractical.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, revert things back to the original situation.

I couldn't have said it better. But after several days of our begging and pleading, IMDB has done nothing, not even deigned to provide a word of concern. Typical. Their people have the hearts of bureaucrats; a living Milgram Experiment, they'd do anything their masters told them to do, even if what they're told to do is...nothing, which is the case here. And you know what? I've stopped caring. IMDB obviously doesn't give a fig so why should any of us? I think it's time to admit defeat and just move on, perhaps find another movie lover's home that is more concerned with the sensibilities of their visitors. Let the lackeys at IMDB enjoy their little triumph, which shall prove a deceptive one indeed, and turn to ashes in their mouth once they've been deservedly deserted. Now that IMDB has robbed me of my reasons for visiting, I simply don't bother to visit in the first place.
I think of the erstwhile IMDb now as the Internet Movie Fanbase. A great place to catch up with all the trailers for the hot, new releases! And to get the latest on the hottest stars! And whenever I want to do something geeky and annoying that requires technical resources like, say, navigating between multiple pages of my vote history, I take a quiz instead! Because I realize now that I'm being an ungrateful child, and if I don't start singing for my supper soon and clicking on revenue-producing links, Amazon will loose patience completely and shut this whole shebang down for good.
Please bring back plain compact view with pagination soon! I am trying to use these ones but even disabling images doesn't help me browse my list freely
After more than 10 years on the website, the watchlist and showtimes were among the few features I never used. I am primarily interested in old films and television shows, and these features are useless to me.

Hi, i was just logging in today to see, there is no longer the option to view my watchlist in list mode. Since i'm sometimes looking up specific dates when i've rated a movie, it's very sad to see, this option has gone and only grid and detail view are remaining.

Just found this category and have to add, what a poor decision. You're taking functions from your members, that made this site special for them. Please make the list available again, so we can see dates when movies have been rated.
Otherwise I guess you'll loose more people as well as countless ratings, for I think it's taking motivation from people to rate a movie, if you don't get the full advantage afterwards.

I have more than 1.5K ratings and I've lost the filtering system where I was able to sort my rating in terms of movies or tv shows. pleeeeeese bring that back!
