While  accessing Rating by Demographic I have noticed IMDb doesn't always give the exact figures. For instance here at the page for film 21 (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0478087/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt) it says All Ages 207,272, Males 149,700, Female 28,447. So basically we have data for 178,147 people. Where is the data for the remaining 29,125 people?
Please help.

Thanks for asking.  We will add this to the ratings FAQ at https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/track-movies-tv/faq-for-imdb-ratings/G67Y87TFYYP6TWAV

The difference in the counts is because only some customers have chosen to provide age, gender and country information when they registered for IMDb. You can add / check your own via https://www.imdb.com/registration/details

Since this information is optional, we cannot assign every vote to every category.

Thank you for replying. The explanation you've provided is very unfortunate. There was so much we could've learned by this breakup by demographic. But alas!

I thank everyone for pitching in and offering your point of view on the problem I face.

I suppose that's why companies spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on focus groups; no one wants to part with their personal information for free.
