Vanishing soundtrack items

If the data was being processed, I can understand the changes not appearing.  But I have not come across any instances where the actual entries disappear whilst being processed.

I have since found two another anomalies:

First anomaly:

 I updated the soundtracks for ‘Patty (1976)’. Submission reference as below

I do a search for ‘Patty (1976)’ as a title to confirm my data has been updated, but it does not show up in my search. There is ‘Patty Candela (1976)’, 'Patty (1962)’ and ‘Patty Hearst (1988)’ amongst others, none of which are the title I am looking for.

The submission reference now has the text:

The IMDb data for this section has changed since you started this update, sorry. It will need to be re-checked in order to avoid accidental damage to the wrong items.

However, if I do a search for ‘Al Goodman (III)’, as he was a songwriter to whom added a QV, he shows up as having the four credits for the film, ‘Patty (1976)’ that I added to his record. I can click on the title on his page and I am now taken to the film’s page.

Question: Why does ‘Patty (1976)’ not show up in a general title search?

Second anomaly:

I have added QVs to soundtrack items for episodes of ‘Naeildo kantabille" (2014)’.  I also added QVs to two soundtrack items attached to the overall title.

Reference: 170629-220049-682000

When I go to check on them, there are no longer any soundtrack items for the title. The updates I submitted have also disappeared from the submission, and it just says ‘No existing data’. 

This is like the example from my first post, except that the data has disappeared from the submission as well.

Question: What has happened here? Is it the same as the situation from the first post (items vanishing whilst being processed)? Or has someone else deleted the soundtrack items from the title?

This is what I get when I search. A search for 'Patty' or 'Patty (1976)' yields the same results.

The second image is what appears when I ask for 'More title matches'.

Regarding  ‘Naeildo kantabille (2014)’.

It's not the episodes' soundtracks that are a problem, it is the overall title page's soundtracks.

I edited two items here and they have disappeared - from the page itself and from my data submission.




 

Patty (1976) is listed as an adult title, so it won't come up in the search until you enable adult results (in the sidebar under Additional Search Options).

Third Anomaly:
Doing a search for Howie Mandel in 'Soundtracks' brings up the tracks in the first image.

When I go to the individual pages, three of these episodes (11, 12 and 14) do not have any soundtrack items.

I looked at the filmography for "Howie Mandel" here and see that he currently only has two listed soundtrack credits for "Bobby's World" episodes (for "Jets, Choo-Choos & Cars" and "Uncle Ted's Excellent Adventure").  It's possible that the sound track credits you captured above were pending removal, which would explain why they were not displaying on the episode pages.

If you are still getting the same Soundtrack results, please confirm the exact steps you are taking to get those results so our staff can take a look.

I am still finding that some items ‘disappear’ into the ether when I update Soundtrack items.

There were two soundtrack items for this film, but they were the same. I marked one for deletion and edited the other to contain a QV link for the songwriter. Both items have disappeared from the film, and the Update only contains the following.

"Listen to the
Mockingbird” (uncredited)
Music by 'Richard Milburn (I)' (qv)

  

With these last three, I expect that I could re-submit the data to see if they would update this time. I thought I would draw your attention to the problem before I did this.

We have uncovered the source of this issue, - for a soundtrack to display on IMDb.com it must fulfill two criteria.

(a) The first character of the soundtrack item must be a double quotation mark.
(b) There needs to be at least another double quotation mark throughout the whole text of the entry field.

It appears that in correcting these items, the second double quotation mark has been replaced with a single quotation mark and as such the item is not able to display on the site. If you resubmit your updates, but ensure that the song title is wrapped in double quotation marks rather than single, this should correct the issue.
