Video clips - format no longer needed?

For links to video clips, the submission guide (https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/links-to-external-sites/G3FNEK9DW6TXW87J#) gives the following format for descriptions:
WebsiteName - description (Language)

Examples:
  • YouTube - behind the scenes
  • Vimeo - full movie
  • BestMovies - interview with the stars (Italian)

However, when one is actually submitting a video clip, the format guide is different:

Note that the above guide requires one to include a video format such as Flash or Quicktime as part of the description, even though the submission guide does not mention that. I suspect that the time when the video format needed to be mentioned passed a few years ago and that is no longer relevant to users wanting to watch videos online.

Could the staff please remove the requirement of a video format from the on-screen guide, as well as removing the words "(Flash)" and "(Quicktime)" from the examples?

That is a good point, Tom. Often the only way an end user finds out is when his/her web browser indicates that a plugin must be activated or installed altogether. For the most part, the "format" indicator is antiquated because nowadays just about all web servers accommodate multiple web browsers, most up-to-date graphical web browsers support multiple plugins/conventions, and most video player programs support every format+codec.
