The "This video file cannot be played.(Error Code: 224003)" is most definitely not fixed. I prefer to  use Firefox, so I can avoid the whole Google/Chrome business, but trailers do not play n Firefox. See above.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled playback issue.

Hi guys, I do not have any adblockers running, and I have the 224003 error for trailers both in Chrome (logged in) and Safari (logged out).

My Chrome version: Version 79.0.3945.88 (Official Build) (64-bit)
My Safari version: Version 13.0.4 (15608.4.9.1.3)

Hi Betty and Anna,

Thank you so much for raising these callouts. To help us investigate can you please answer a few questions:
1. When did you start experiencing the issue? Is this happening across any/all videos?
2. (Betty) What version of Firefox are you using?
3. Are you trying to play video from the imdb.com/trailers page, or other pages? Can you provide a URL to the video(s) you are attempting to watch that are not working for you?
4. If you have an account and are logged in could you please provide your account link? (How-to: while logged in on desktop, go to the upper right, hover on your account, click "Your Activity", copy/paste the link)

Still having the same trouble for the last month or so. Running up to date Firefox browser. It happened after a Firefox update. Works fine in Chrome.

Hi Dan, a few questions to help us:

Hi, Jack!
It happens across all the videos on IMDB for me, including the ones on the /trailers page.
It is happening for a long time, several months for sure. Any video will be showing this error for me.

I think one of the last trailers I've tried to watch was this:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5727208/?ref_=vi_tr_mp_l_22

Here's the link to my profile:
https://www.imdb.com/user/ur46472252/?ref_=nv_usr_prof_2

The videos didn't work in both browsers regardless of logged in/out situation though.

Fair warning, I just checked and seems like the videos don't work while I'm at work, but do work from home, so it may have something to do with proxies set up — but we don't have any movie sites blocked, including Netflix, YouTube, Steam and Twitch, so I would be surprised they're blocking you guys specifically.

Thanks Anna! It's very interesting that you're having a different experience work vs home. Are you using a different computer at work vs home? If so, can you confirm which browser versions you're using on each? I'm assuming the browser versions you confirmed previously were on your work computer?

Hi Jack, the browsers I confirmed before were my work ones.
My home browser is Version 79.0.3945.88 (Official Build) (64-bit) — so the same, I guess. Just doesn't work at work. You reckon it's proxy? Is there a way to find out?

Hi Anna,

It could be that your work has restrictions in place. Can you check with your work IT department to see if IMDb is blocked by their networking policies?

Hi All,

Thank you for your patience. We've been able to reproduce the video error code: 224003 when we have an ad blocker enabled such as Ghostery. Also please note that the latest version of Firefox has auto enabled and updated tracking features that may be interfering with your video playback on our site.

Betty/Dan - we'd like to request trying the following to see if playback works:
1. On Firefox, please doublecheck to see if you have any ad blocker or any browser extensions downloaded and try disabling them and then playing video on our site.
2. On Firefox, if you have the latest browser version installed, please try disabling the enhanced tracking when you are on our site, then try playing a video (more info on how to toggle that off found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enhanced-tracking-protection-firefox-desktop)
3. Please also try playing video in a Chrome browser to see if you experience the same issue.
