The weighted average review rating for my film The Touchstone, is calculating incorrectly. It should be 6.1, not 2.3 as it is showing. Please help. This is hurting my marketing efforts. Thanks!

The problem is there have only been 8 votes, so individual votes will count for more and it looks like at least one of the top-rated voters has given your film a 2. As their votes have more weight it will skew the final score, which is based on a secret algorithm IMDB use, not the arithmetic mean. This is a problem that has been flagged up in a couple of earlier threads here and the best solution is just to weight. However, IMDB have removed some of these votes (as they seem to be being throw in by a small number of users to balance out suspiciously high votes - I see you have 2 10s and 2 9s) so it is worth flagging, but as more votes come in, your rating will settle on a more realistic number. So in your social media efforts remind people to come and vote for the film (as opposed to get some friends and family to come and give more 10s to balance this out, as that might get more low votes to balance out the balancing - which prolongs the hurt).

See this thread on the main board for a wider discussion:
