WGA credits locked for Alien are not in the right order

The locked WGA credits for Alien (1979) are incorrect. As you can see from the picture below, the screenplay credit should be first followed by the story credits:

Dan O'Bannon screenplay by 1,1,1
Dan O'Bannon story by 2,1,1

Thanks for your post.

Please remember that we list our filmography based on a titles original credit listing - if another cut of the title is released at a later date with an updated listing, this isn't eligible to be listed on the title page.

Are you able to provide supporting evidence to confirm these credits relate to the original cut as opposed to any future cuts?

This screen capture is from the DVD release of the 1979 theatrical cut of Alien (though the 2003 director's cut list the credits in the same order.) I'm not sure what other evidence I could provide. I suppose there is a chance the actual film version is different but that would be unlikely. I can pull out my laserdisc version and check it but I don't see why it would be different either.

Incidentally, this isn't the first (and most likely won't be the last) where the WGA credits do not match the onscreen credits. You can search the forums and see that I've posted about it before. I don't think many contributors pay attention to them as they aren't something we can easily change.

There is a YouTube video of a TV screening dated 1984 with the same credit order. While this version may not be identical to the original release, it does predate any later cut versions.

Thanks both, we have seen inconsistencies such as these in the past with WGA credits. I've edited the credits now to reflect the order as it appears on screen.
