When the film is finished shooting, the producer sends a notice to the WGA and the writers proposing the writing credits. If any writer disagrees with those credits, or if the proposed credits require mandatory arbitration, a WGA arbitration committee reads all drafts of the script and various supporting materials and determines the actual/official credits (see help for WGA).

For direct help from IMDb staff, we recommend you use the contact form at https://help.imdb.com/contact ... messages here are handled 7 days per week with a target response time of under 24 hours.
We do reply to open Get Satisfaction threads across the day, however, if there is an on-going discussion on a thread then this will "bump" it out of needing a staff response; the nature of your posts often attracts the attention of people trying to clarify the issue, so it rarely takes 4 days for anyone else's issue to be solved, sorry.
If you only want an answer from staff then please use https://help.imdb.com/contact instead of Get Satisfaction ... if the contact path you follow does not lead to an "E-mail" button then both of these do, please use as appropriate:
Thanks

Thanks for reporting marhleet, I've now removed the lock and amended the credits to reflect how they appear on screen.

I see marhleet, Adrian, and other contributors making efforts to struggle the disorder resulted from WGA as a trusted source. I see the contributors doing good, as well as WGA doing well in their field, but we all see this process keeps to run circle for extra-efforts in situations where it is intended to prevent the ones.
The practical experience of all this shows the right way: WGA has to be the trusted source for named credits, but not for their ordering in titles, the ordering might be free for edit. Or WGA has to be instructed and follow the IMDb rules when providing their trusted information. Or the WGA provided credits have not to be locked for editing at all...
We all need to follow the clear and straightforward rules, and not the exceptions where "aristocracy" participates and may keep trying.

IMDb follows certain rules/formatting when listing e.g. Writing-credits (where order could be a bit more complicated). If there are mistakes, omissions - or the order doesn’t match, the WGA doesn’t really matter. Mistakes should be corrected. Actual screen credits are taking the front seat, so to speak.
The problem with WGA related credits is obviously the ”locked” credits, so IMDb staff is needed to update them. Not the ideal way, probably, if contributors can’t submit corrections to them.

The problem is not in the fact they are locked. The problem is in the way this system is framed around.
If the WGA representatives keep providing their trusted data disordered, it has to be explained to all community that the corrections are accepted and how to process the data further to correct their order. It must be done in the official IMDb help, not in GS threads randomly.
As an alternative, but more complicated way -- the WGA data stay locked partially, their ordering has to be unlocked for edit.

Sure. But in the end, mistakes/omissions can happen and it would be ideal if people could at least submit the correction.
