I have updated credit lists while most of my edits have been accepted a few recent ones have been declined and the reason was "unable to verify"? What does the site mean by that?

Editors verify every one of your submissions. They just do not take your submissions and post them to titles without verification. Sometimes they cannot verify what you say. Hence: "unable to verify".
So, Could you post your contribution numbers here for the unable to verifies.
You can find those 18 digit numbers here at,
https://contribute.imdb.com/contributions/history
or here
https://contribute.imdb.com/updates/history/?ref_=helpms_ch_ci_history
Please provide additional proof here also to corroborate your submissions. Those would be screeshots or news articles. Please provide the URL's to news articles.
Cheers :):)

Hi 1RichardHunt -
I can see that these credit updates weren't approved because our editors were unable to verify the changes. If you have screen grabs of the on-screen credits to help verify the on-screen credits for these titles, please post them here and our staff can take another look.

I nor IMDb has the time to watch videos.
Contributors do this.
When IMDb rejects your submissions, and you want your submissions accepted, then you must provide the request data, in the preferred manor. (Screengrab)
That's the way it works.
Provide what's requested or don't.
Your choice.
There is nothing further to discuss.
You know what's needed.
Good day.
Cheers

While watching the video on your computer, put it on pause, and do a Print Screen. How to do that varies according the operating system (Windows, Mac OS, etc.) that you're using.
Just google "screengrab Windows" (or whichever) and try to follow the directions.
Alternately, you could put the screen on pause and take a photo, download (share) that to your computer, and post it here. Again, google how to do that with your type of phone.
If you run the video on your phone or tablet, put it on pause, and use that device's screengrab ability.
You live in a time when a wealth of information is amazingly searchable at your fingertips. Learn to use those search tools and don't depend on people telling you how.
You could have googled "how do I get screen-grabs" instead of posting it here, and had your answer long before I posted this.

Okay, maybe I just didn't want to. I figured I had to get a DVD with the special on it first.

It's not necessarily easy to procure the specific freeze frame that looks most suitable. I actually had to use a script to slowdown playback.
