What happens when you add information to all episodes (from series level) when the information is already there?

Let's say I'm adding information to a series called "The Big Show". John Big (the star) and Mary Big (the producer) are credited on some episodes but not others. Both John and Mary should be credited on ALL episodes. So from the series level, I add them to all the episodes.

What happens to the episodes that already have John and Mary credited? Are they double-credited?

And how about keywords? What if I add a keyword to every episode, even though the keyword is already on some of the episodes?

The system accepts the submission on the duplicate.
I just checked.
You would think the system would not duplicate the data.
It should recognize it as existing.
I'm surprised it does not recognize the credit as an existing one when you re-enter the dupe on the submission.
Odd.

Yolanda is already credited as Herself in this episode!

It varies with the data type, I think. You won't have to worry about cast items being duplicated. Crew credits might wind up duplicated if every data field in an item is not identical with a new item linked to the same person. The keywords attached to episodes still be around even if the same keywords are attached to the series to which the episodes belong, until manually deleted.

I should also ask whether this causes a headache to the staff, even if no duplicated information ever makes it to the page.

There are cases where I want to add someone to every episode of a series, but the person is already credited in some of the episodes. It would be easier to add the person to every episode, without checking to see which ones they have already been credited for.

If this creates extra work for the staff, then of course I don't want to do it. But if the duplicates are rejected automatically, then I do.

Hi J.,

It's not too much of an issue with the cast credits as we can easily reject those as duplicates, however it does cause extra work for crew credits as we need to reassess whether the item is a duplicate credit or not.

I hope this helps.

Will
