So, i just noticed the new (?) feature of the top 250 list, the "seen" option instead of the "rate" option.

I am one of those users that use the watchlist for films i HAVE seen and not the ones i WANT to see, since it so much easier to use it that way. I think a feature that would do just that is absolutely needed!

But i don't quite understand this, i have marked all the movies i've seen with this new option but there is no way to find them all in a same list or mark them as seen once you've clicked on the movie. Am i missing something or is this feature still being developed??

Please help, i am desperate for an easier way to managed seen films!!!

Hi Sofia V,

Think of your Watchlist as a list of what you want to watch or watch again: films, television shows and episodes, and other titles. Titles included in your Watchlist are used by IMDb's recommendation application to recommend films. For more information please see:
IMDb Watchlist Frequently Asked Questions
http://www.imdb.com/help/search?domain=helpdesk_faq&index=1&file=watchlistfaq

IMDb implemented the "Seen" feature based on a suggestion posted on IMDb's Get Satisfaction forum (in other words this website). It allows users to indicate that they have seen all or part of a film or television program without rating it. The "Seen" feature is available for all IMDb title lists. Here is an example for the IMDb Top 250 (http://www.imdb.com/chart/top) from my IMDb account:

If you click between the blank star and the + sign, you can either rate the title or indicate that you have seen the film. If you rate the film, a solid blue star is displayed with your rating to the right. If you select "seen", the star is colored light blue and the word "seen" is displayed to the right.

At the top right, you can hide titles that you have rated or seen.

The seen feature applies to all IMDb title lists. This includes user created lists. Here is an example based on one of My IMDb lists:
2015 Oscar Nominations Alphabetical Detailed
List:   http://www.imdb.com/list/ls073492347/
Seen: http://www.imdb.com/seen/ls073492347/

You can convert any title list to the "seen" feature by replacing "list" with "seen" in the link to the list. You may also play a trivia quiz based on a list, by clicking on the link to the right. The link to the quiz is shown below.

Quiz: http://www.imdb.com/games/guess/list:ls073492347?ref_=li

You may also be interested in a poll based in part on this list:

The "seen" feature allows you to see which film you have rated or "seen" for a specific person. For instance, on Clint Eastwood's main page (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000142/), you should see this on the right side of the page towards the bottom:

If you click on the link, Clint Eastwood's work, you should see something similar to this:
http://www.imdb.com/seen/nm0000142/

The drop down menus allow you to select in what role or capacity Mr. Eastwood has for a production and the title type. For instance if you select Soundtrack and TV Episodes, you should see something like this:

Here is an interesting undocumented feature of the IMDb seen feature.

For more information, please see this thread IMDb Seen (http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000040/nest/236059182) on the IMDb Information message board (http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000040/threads/).

IMDb still allows you to rate films and still maintains your rating list. For instance, these are my ratings: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur0127678/ratings

You are welcome Sofia V. The "seen" option is a relatively new feature requested by a number of users. It can be very useful. However, to my knowledge there are no help pages on the feature. Eventually, the IMDb editorial staff will produce such content. I hope what I wrote can be helpful in the interim.

Another user, babuandbabu, discovered that you will receive a 500 error (server error) if you have not marked any films as seen and click on the link below.
