What is wrong with the website? It looks like they worked on it and then stopped before finishing. Why aren't more people complaining?

I'm talking about all of it. Do I just need a software fix of some sort to view this properly?

Is this what you see when you go to the IMDB site?

Ah, that’s one of the badly designed ads that they sometimes use. You just need an Ad Blocker to hide it (but don’t tell the IMDb staff :) ) like AdBlock Plus (ABP). Look for it in Google. Steve

Thanks, Steve.  I never had an ad blocker before such as AdBlock Plus and the IMDB website never gave me any trouble.  ABP looks like a data mining program. My other websites are not giving me any trouble. Although when I do a specific kind of search on my library website, I do get a page where I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to get the search results.  And there are a list of hyperlinks, but in spite of that, the actual results are readable and workable. They don't have any ads on the library website.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to stop going to IMDB.Thanks anyway,
Jean

> Oh well, I guess I'll just have to stop going to IMDB.Thanks anyway, Don’t do that. Their ads are usually different each time you visit the site. Try visiting a different page and/or reload the page a few times. Then it should go away. Steve

When I search on a film and look for user reviews, I have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to see the list of links regarding my search and the results are left-justified, on the left side as a list of hyperlinks with some photos.  How is this an improvement from what the website had before?

No, because I use an Ad Blocker :)

Hey Steve, I went ahead and installed ADB, thinking I could uninstall if I didn't like it.  It did seem to take out some of the background color, but I still get a stupid list of links that are not as user friendly as the old website.

Hi Jean,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I'm currently unable to reproduce this issue myself.

So that we can investigate this further, can you please confirm the version number of your Mozilla Firefox browser?

Thanks in advance.

I cleared everything in my history, cookies and cache.  IMDB website looks pretty much the same. I will try restarting my computer.

Hi Jean,

Our technical team has been unable to reproduce the issue you've experienced. So that we can continue to investigate, please provide us with the following additional information:
  • Do you have any extensions installed in the browser (aside from ad/pop-up blockers)?
  • Do you have the same problem in a different browser on the same computer?
  • Can you screenshot the networking tab of the debug tools after refreshing the page with the debug tools open?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Jean,

With further investigation we still haven't been able to reproduce the problems you are having. My guess is that something on your network is blocking some of the requests to IMDb, which causes it to show a broken page. I have a couple more requests for you that may help us confirm this theory...

1. Please click on this link in your browser: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/imdb/css/collections/consumer-2-column-767994318._CB474164394.... You should see lots of code on the screen. Please send us a screenshot of it. If it's not a screen full of code then that is definitely the problem, and shows that there an issue with something on your network (e.g. firewall software).
2. You didn't quite get exactly what we wanted with the network tab. You opened it correctly, but you need to open it with https://www.imdb.com showing, and then hit the refresh button. Once you've done that, drag the "developer tools" section (the bit with the network tab on it) to be as big as possible and send us another screenshot.

Thanks, Jean! Sorry for the delay getting back to you.

Hi Matt, I tried clicking on your link and discovered that it is a mobile site, i.e. https://m.media-  etc....  I have a desktop computer and that may be part of the problem. When I deleted the "m." part of that web address, I got that "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site." webpage.  I have been thinking that maybe I need to take my computer into the IT department of my computer store.

Thank you for trying to help me. I do miss going on IMDB.

The "m." portion at the beginning actually doesn't show that it's a mobile site in this case. My apologies that that is confusing.

Did you not see a screen of code when clicking on the link exactly as provided? If not, then yes I'm afraid that you'll need to seek help with your computer / internet connection at home as it is not something that IMDb can fix.

One thing that may help - if your computer is a laptop, then you could try connecting it to a different wifi network. If it works there then it's a problem with your home internet connection, if it doesn't work there then it's a problem with the laptop.

Hope this helps!
Matt
