Thought I'd post this here until I hear we're doing it somewhere else....

Post the name of the latest movie you've seen and your rating out of 10.

Sunshine Boys (t0073766) - 7/10 - loved Burns, hated Matthau.

Neruda (2016), 7/10

Stylish, but distanced, with a script that really goes for broke. I think some comedy is lost in translation.

I've been wanting to see this for some time but haven't yet. That's a good point about translation: it makes me wonder about some movies (in a language besides my first)  with which I felt disconnected. I'm usually disappointed by biopics of poets; I hope I'm not by this one.

Alex Cross (2012) - 5/10, meh.

After Dark, My Sweet (1990) - 7/10, apparently the critics loved this one, but I never cared for the characters

I had not heard of this movie but your rating and blurb compelled me to put it on my watchlist.

"I don't call Donald Trump. Donald Trump calls me." :-)

Named best documentary of the year by Humo in Belgium. It's on Netflix.

Atomic Blonde - 7/10 - started out so strong, the rest of the film probably had no chance of measuring up. They did a great job with the music though, none of the usual '80s cliches, except for London Calling, and I'll take the Clash any day over the majority of bands out there.

I haven't seen the movie; the "like" is for the Clash, lol.

Baby Driver - 8/10 - another action/thriller with music featured prominently with a lead character who is an enigma. I thought it would be funnier, but oh well. The character of Joseph and his relationship with Baby was uniquely interesting. How often do you see actual deaf actors playing deaf characters?

Yeah. The last two I can think of is Mr. Wrench on Fargo (TV) and a variety of people on a season 2 episode of Master of None.

Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann (2013) - 7/10, Oscar nominated makeup is very good, and it is occasionally funny, but there really isn't much in terms of character development.

Banana (2010) - 7/10, a 4 minutes Minions Short Film you can watch here

Darkest Hour (2017) - 8/10, Great Oldman, but I also enjoyed the cinematography, the score and the production design very much.

Angels Over Broadway (1940) - 7/10, the ending tok it down a little bit.

The Oscar nominated short, Dear Basketball (2017). Might be an incomplete version of the short I seen on Youtube.
But as a fanatic of animation?  It's ugly, lazy, faux poetic, and saccharine.  Might as well be a $million shoe commercial for the Super Bowl.
