Thought I'd post this here until I hear we're doing it somewhere else....

Post the name of the latest movie you've seen and your rating out of 10.

Black Panther (2018), 9/10.  Michael B. Jordon's Killmonger! And easily one of the best Marvel Universe scores.

Sniffy Escapes Poisoning (1967), 1/10.  Carcinogenic animated short.  The viewer needlessly suffers from eyeball poisoning.

Rewatch of Julie and Jack (2003), 1/10.
James Nguyen?  It's been 5 years since Birdemic 2.  You have to be working on something atrocious by now.

THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI
Great ****** movie, 10/10 nothing predictable, manipulative or patronizing, that's what Crash should have been like toreally deserve that BP Oscar, McDormand reminded me of Kathy Bates in Dolores Clairborne (an Oscar she should have been nominated for btw), the film should get a few Oscars by tomorrow :)

ElM, I agree it was a fantastic film - great direction and a story that always seemed to keep you guessing while still maintaining a humanistic feel to it. Have you seen The Shape of Water yet? Between the two, I felt the latter deserved the BP but perhaps you'll feel differently after watching it.

Lol, I wanted to share my enthusiasm with you and show you the review I wrote, but checking the film's page and the reviews written in the last 2 days, I was shocked to see stuff like this submitted as reviews... and worse, approved!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5027774/reviews?sort=submissionDate&dir=desc

"Just that, I wasted two hrs.hi don't understand how anyone could give thista decent rating."

"I don't understand how this movie was even nominated for an award, this film is stupid!"

"Plot holes everywhere. Disappointingly poor script." (6 letters! it's not even a twitter rant)

Anyway, I had a busy February so I'm late on the usual Oscar binge-watching but Del Toro is next on my watchlist, believe it or not, it'll be the first Del Toro film I'll see... but even without seeing, I knew that 3B clean sweep wouldn't last and it would be victim of the "BAFTA Globes" curse :)

A double header today:
The Oscar Nominated Short Films 2018: Animation (2018) , 8/10.
The Insult (2017), 9/10.  Planned on seeing A Fantastic Woman after the screening of the Oscar shorts.  But didn't want to wait until 5PM for the next screening and The Insult was only 50 minutes until its screen time.

Garden Party (2017), 10/10;
Revolting Rhymes Part One (TV Short 2016), 10/10.  Which is funny because it ends on a cliffhanger leading into part two.  I suspect that part two won't (rightfully so*) qualify for next year.
it's already up on Youtube as is part one.
*It's great like the first one.  But next year, let's get all fresh blood nominated for the set of animated shorts.

Negative Space (2017), 8/10.
LOU (2017), 8/10.
Dear Basketball (2017), the weakest of the lot. 5/10.

Also screened animated shorts:
Achoo (2018) (Short), 6/10.  Pretty ugly animation.  Pretty predictable and marginal.
Lost Property Office (2017) (Short), 7/10.
Weeds (2017) (Short), 7/10.

On my commute this morning, I finished the anime film, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (2017).  Not a fan of the bargain adjacent character design.  The story was also cheesy and predictable (but not in a good kaiju movie way).

When I first heard about this film, I thought it was a film about EDM (electronic dance music)

There are some club scenes in the film, and I think the title does reference house music rhythms, although it's only a backdrop.

There is another French film, Eden (2014), which is also set in the early 90s and which is actually about the electronic music scene.

Les Misèrables (1998) - 7/10. I liked this a lot when I saw it as a 10 year old kid in its theatrical run. But after ewatching it, and with the 2012 movie and the book as references now I feel it lacking in several ways.
