Feels like The French Connection (1971) with Gene Hackman, but made today and with French actors. Marseille in the '70s. Where do they find so many of these old Citroën DS gangster cars?

The original post of this was deleted by an IMDb admin (employee) because I included a photo with the B word on it. Are we living in 1984 here? Censorship is so 20th century!

Remember the old, '80s video rental places? They had old, weird posters all over. Some were in what seemed like a cinder block box. The one I went to as a girl had a large poster of this film. I always wondered about it. I couldn't imagine what the aunts could be up to that the boy shouldn't know. Two other posters I remember from that time were Angel, which seemed particularly evil in some way. And Magic, which just looked downright scary.

I never saw any of them, until now...

Carol Channing: Larger Than Life - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1737122 - 7/10 - a lot of fun but with no insight into the deeper issues of her life it was ultimately quite empty. No mention or appearance of any family save for one line where she mentioned her son. I guess being on tour for 50 years isn't too good for familial relations. Interestingly, her son Chan Lowe is a well-known political cartoonist.

Your post is old now so you may not see this, but if you do, here goes:
I agree. I couldn't even finish it! But there's a great LIVE stage version (on DVD) with Hugh Jackman. It's actually quite good - and I'm usually not one for plays. Just thought you might like to know!

Side note: Why do all Pixel-esque humanoid characters have such huge eyes? Is this Margaret Keane's doing?

Not at all, I never give a rating of 10 the first time I watch a movie. That is reserved for films that I feel passionate about months after first watching them, so the films that have that number in my list have been all rated twice., and they are very few.
An 8 rating is a very good film in my book, and perfect for a nominee, but my winners usually have a 9.
With an 8 I leave the theater satisfied, with a 9 I leave the theater excited.
