The Spy Who Came in from the Cold - 6/10 - just couldn't get into it. I watched the first hour and realized I hadn't really been paying attention so I started it over again. And then I didn't pay attention to the second hour. I still don't know what the trial was about... :/

The fact it was based on a true story is the main point of credit I give it... Benedict Cumberbatch was far overrated. The story was quite boring. And trying not to give away the ending, it was very anti-climatic. The main guy was shown as a hero but really he was an anti-hero. Making out as if he was some sort of genius, when in the end they got the ending from someone else and could have used it without him.

Production was pretty good. But editing very poor. The costumes and setting was slightly under par...

Kiera Knightley was good, but had too small of a role to really shine like she could have

Dunkirk (2017) - 6/10
The montage was really annoying for me. A lot of short scenes and jumps between characters and situations. That's also why I couldn't really get into this film. And I missed a story.

All Sunday:
Dunkirk (2017), on 70mm, 10/10....  Though I could have used a little less film artifacts and wear-and-tear already seen on the print.  That might be a theater problem.

The Rifftrax take on The Little Unicorn (2002).  2/10 for the film; 10/10 on the commentary.  The UN needs to place sanctions against South Africa if this is the usual quality of films that come from that country.

Another Rifftrax take: Hillbillys in a Haunted House (1967) (Rewatched about 2/3rds before going to bed).  1/10 for the alleged excuse of a comedy/musical; 10/10 for the commentary.

Season 1 of GLOW - 9/10 - pretty good and not the same old crap that is mostly produced for women. Fourteen women and three men make up the cast. I like those odds.

For me, it's been held up as this great triumph and one of the best Hepburn and Tracy ever made together but it just didn't come together for me. Especially her admitting at the end that she was wrong.

We're getting ready to see Warof the Planet of the Apes this weekend, hence doing some prepping. Tonight we just finished watching Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: 7.5/10. Yesterday we watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes: 8/10. I think I'm scoring a bit low due to how emotionally affected I get by all the inhumanity that happens (which I know is the point of the stories). Technically they're pretty amazing and I'd rate them both 10/10 since I get so wrapped up in them.

Spectre (rewatch) - 7/10
Klute - 6/10 - aged very poorly, especially the music. And Jane Fonda totally overacted through the whole thing. I can't believe she won an Oscar! I think they were awarding the (at the time) groundbreaking subject matter, not her actual performance. She was so so unsexy! But I wasn't exactly blown away by the other two performances I've seen from this category - Julie Christie in McCabe and Mrs. Miller and Glenda Jackson in Sunday Bloody Sunday.

That Evening Sun - 7/10 - I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. Have liked the whole cast in different roles in the past.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) 6/10 Dane Dehaan is so cardboard and wooden in this that he should have never been given the lead role. This one made him look like he can't act. Rihanna did a great job in this and it was great to see Rutger Huar in a cameo role. I could say more about this but I'm not interested in writing a lengthy review right now. Just surface it to say, it was better than "The Fifth Element" which I didn't like because of the bad story, the terribly bad accent by Gary Oldman "Who I usually love as an actor), and worst part, the plastic looking flabby aliens - fat isn't bad but when it moves about the way, especially around the face, that you can tell it was an actor wearing a rubber mask, it is.

The Lion in Winter - 7/10 - despite being extremely distracted by the age difference between Henry and Eleanor, I was right with this film. Until the last 15 minutes or so.I don't get Henry's motivation for letting them leave.

Also, Eleanor's white collar thing kept taking my attention. Was it to cover Hepburn's old neck or was that a style? I didn't see anyone else wearing something like that, especially Alais. And I totally missed that she was Philip's sister. Also saw a side of Timothy Dalton I've never seen before and I liked it...
