Looking for an American colour war film I saw as a child shot around the late sixties or early seventies set in Pacific Theatre in WWII or perhaps Korean War or less likely Vietnam War. All I can remember a scene where a commanding officer (who I thought was John Wayne, but I don’t think so now) was wounded and had to be carried on a stretcher through the jungle but still able to lead his unit. I distinctively remember a scene where a little Asian village boy (possibly orphaned) introduces himself to the soldiers as “My name is Komatsu.” I’ve always thought he was that kid Hamchunk from The Green Berets (“Was my Peter-san brave?”), but once I saw it again as an adult, obviously not.
