Where are my lists?

After I logged in (using FB), I went to the "update your lists" link only to find out that my lists are gone and there is a new pending list called "ToSee".

That list is not mine!

What's going on, has my account been hacked?

This is common problem. It is very easy to mistakenly log into via Facebook instead of your original IMDb account. It can be very confusing.

It may be a good idea for IMDb to indicate how user are logged in to help avoid the confusion. If I can come up with a good way of mechanizing this, I will make a suggestion.

My thoughts: When you click the login through Facebook it checks for IMDB login cookies (or logout ones) - if there is no way to set an "I have an account already" cookie then there should be one. It'd then be easy enough to flash up a warning screen pointing out people already have an account and this will create a new one.

If that isn't a possibility then perhaps just flashing up a warning: "this will create a new account (with new lists and settings), if you already have an account you may want to log into that." Which might be sufficient.

If nothing else, maybe where it says who you're logged in as, it could add by which type of log in. Like, "Jimmy Joe Bob's account-via FB" or "IMDb." So, if you've gotten that far and get confused, you'd see it when you check your profile for you lists, etc.
