Everything I find online says Will Geer is the voice of the narrator in "Jeremiah Johnson".... It does not sound like Geer, though... it sounds like Tim McIntyre, who, along with best being an actor, also did the music for the film. Anyone got any idea who the narrator was?

Just curious: Can anyone cite a definitive source confirming it was Tim McIntire (or Will Geer, for that matter)? Nothing I've seen online offers any attribution for either name, except stuff like "I've been told. . .")

I thought it may be Warren Oates too. I'm trying to find out for sure, with "certification" from more or less the horse's mouth. Will keep you posted.

It is most definitely "not" Oates, McQueen or Geer. That you can take to the bank. I'm 1000% sure.
Lifted this from Yahoo answers. It matches a reply above

I vote for Tim McIntire -- (he sounds a little like Hoyt Axton). He was also in Brubaker with Redford. He was in "Kung Fu" -- I'm watching an episode right now, that's the voice.

There several episodes with Tim. You listen and see if the voice matches.
