Why are some Plot Outlines same as Amazon Video ? Are they supplied by the networks?

I added plot outlines (the short, 3 sentences or less type) to two new episodes that had no plot outlines yet. When I checked them several days later, I found plot outlines exactly the same, word for word, for the episodes on Amazon Video. They are the 1st & 2nd episodes of Season 4 of The Last Ship.

I understand that IMDB might not have wanted to use mine, but was surprised to see the same ones at Amazon Video - where do they get these plot outlines, and why have contributors for that section if they already have the info from elsewhere, like maybe the networks?

Did you copy the plot outlines from somewhere else? I often notice that the plot outlines on Amazon Prime are similar if not word-for-word for plot outlines listed on TVGuide.com or on my DVR.

IMDb is a subsidiary of Amazon.com (http://www.imdb.com/pressroom/) and we share certain types of content when available.  At the time you contributed, the outlines were presumably not yet available on Amazon and were only imported later. Sorry we were unable to use your versions.

Thank You, that explains why the outlines were the same in Amazon and IMDB. I still do not understand why there is an option for contributors to add plot outlines for tv series that are listed on both Amazon & IMDB, since they already have their own.
I appreciate your reply.
