The short answer is that browse history is device/platform specific. The idea of shared history is interesting... I'm curious, what need would this meet for you? Do you use your history as a means of navigation? Thanks!

As Yann noted, History is a browser function, and it is stored on the device itself. Therefore, when you switch to another device the data is not available.

That said, some browsers to permit synchronizing Histories. Firefox allows the user to sync various items including History, Bookmarks and Tabs, and they have now released a version for the iPad.

Of course, this will increase data transmission, as any changes to the synced items must be uploaded to their server and then downloaded to the other device.

There may be similar functions available for other browsers; this just happens to be the one I know about.

Finally, I would note that now that IMDb is including 'source data' at the end of the URLs, the functionality of the History  to show on the page which linked pages you have seen is greatly reduced.
