Why does the new software not allow minor edits to Plot Synopses shorter than 1,500 characters to be made?

It makes sense that the system might not allow synopses that are too short to be created to begin with, but why are the are "not long enough" ones imported from the old system situated in such a way that, in order to edit them, additional information must be added, lest the submission not be able to be made at all?! This is absurd! Why didn't the designer make it so that minor corrections could still be submitted?! Never mind the answer to that, so much as the following. If IMDb web development team will not fix this, then why in the hell not?!

The changes that have been being made in the past several months are breaking the site!

That sounds like normal behaviour of the update system: You can often only correct something if you can amend it so that it's accepted by the form (e.g., a series-level credit or a badly formatted aka).

I inquired about the limit itself. You have no answers for that (the design choice), so you should probably just move along; thank you. By the way, the limit is not normal but rather some kind absurd potential "new normal". The way it used to be is that insufficiently long synopses bore a warning but could still be edited.

As Peter indicates above, this is the expected behaviour, sorry. 

If you find an existing synopsis which is too short when edited, you can either:

  1. Edit the synopsis and expand it until it is long enough OR  
  2. Submit the text as a plot summary instead (removing any spoilers) and then submit a delete request for the original synopsis

O, by the way, please take note of the junk that had to be deleted for Diary of a Single Mom (2009-2011): 171023-114220-298000. Why was the rubbish imported in the first place if it would not meet guidelines?! Do you sincerely take pride in your website? I'm sure people ask that question all time, but somehow corresponding affirmations continually come off as unconvincing, which is thanks to the behavior of your company overall.
