Why doesn't entering marriage details for one person enter it for the marriage partner if they are on IMDB?

I found an interesting foible in the data entry system. I have been in the process of separating the two Richard Riccis and I entered the marriage date for one and linked it to his wife. I would have expected that since they both have IMDb pages, I wouldn't have to enter it twice and it would appear on both of their name pages but it did not. This seems like it would be a fairly simple thing to do and would save data entry.
