Why is Sacred Games listed as an American Origin TV series in your website and not as an Indian Origin TV Series ?

I would like to know the logic behind this. Yes, the distributor is Netflix but the Production company is Indian. The same question holds true for Dark and Germany or Money Heist and Spain.

This article indicates that the idea of making the series originated with Netflix; maybe that's enough to qualify it as "American Origin" even if the production company is Indian:

Perhaps it's the same sort of thing for "Dark" and "Money Heist."

I went through the link again, I couldn't find Dark and La Casa De Papel.
Sacred Games is still there though. Anyway, Netflix is just the Distributor of Sacred Games, that's what the Wikipedia page says. The Producer is Phantom Films solely.
By this logic, every single series/movie streaming in Netflix becomes of US origin, doesn't it ?

I would say that Sacred Games appear in this list because we can find USA in the title's Country of origin. In which case, the returned search list behaviour is OK.

According to this press release, Sacred Games was produced in partnership with "Phantom Films", which would mean Netflix is also a production company so the India/USA for country of origin would be correct.

I'll look later today to see if Netflix is listed as a production company on the actual episodes.

Hi Raunak -

As mentioned in our guide, the country of a title should reflect the place or places where the production companies for that title are based. This means, for example, even if a title is shot on location in France, if its production companies are all based in the USA, we record the country as USA.  If a title is a multi-country production, you can submit both countries to reflect the production companies (Such as USA/Netflix and India/Phantom Films) , however, note that the order the countries are entered into the addition/update forms is significant and will be reflected in the display order within IMDb.

I hope this helps clarify!
