Where are you seeing it higher than on the official site?

Can you provide URL's?

"Flixify" doesn't help.
Please provide URL's (links) for specific titles where you've seen the IMDb rating on another site.

Well, yes it would have but you can't access that site without an invite. So that being said, I wouldn't have asked the question if the ratings were the same? I use IMDb to watch trailers and look at the ratings for the movies I watch on MY movie site. I'm sure you could of given me a hypothetical answer without the hoopla you wanted to answer my question. I'm almost certain this isn't the first time this question has come up. [Thank you Ed Jones (XLIX) for your explanation, now makes perfect sense!]

IMDb uses a Weighted Average system , while others use a simple mathematical average system.

Weighted Average Ratings

IMDb publishes weighted vote averages rather than raw data averages. Various filters are applied to the raw data in order to eliminate and reduce attempts at vote stuffing by people more interested in changing the current rating of a movie than giving their true opinion of it.

The exact methods we use will not be disclosed. This should ensure that the policy remains effective. The result is a more accurate vote average.
