A few days ago I reported a forum user. This person posted messages admitting to finding preteen girls sexually attractive, has a photo of a preteen girl as his profile image and a link to a YouTube video of one in his signature. The user's message board history was subsequently deleted, but that's all. He is still able to post messages. The first message he posted since deletion was in a thread about Pedobear:

"Pedobear is the best!

By the way, to whoever reported me (for no valid reason of course), thank you!
Such a history wipe feels refreshing! No trace of the things I said in the past. [[smile]]"

Why are people who post such obscenities, including footage clearly intended for paedophilic use, allowed to remain on this site?

What makes you think it's "allowed?" If his post history was wiped, clearly it's not. It's very difficult to stop someone from using public message boards. The site utilizes "authentication." First they delete a post. Then they delete history. Then they raise posting quota, then remove authentication. To continue, the user has to provide new forms of ID. Theoretically, they'll eventually change their ways, run out of forms of ID or just go away.

What you describe is certainly, though, not allowed.

It appears to have been allowed because the user has been "allowed" to continue exactly as before, the photo and link haven't even been removed. Other sites seem to have no difficulty in banning offenders like this in a single strike, I can't see why there's no system in place here to do the same for extreme cases, of which there are in fact many. What if someone were to make death threats? Would the offender be given a slap on the wrists then too? I just can't fathom why there's such a lax attitude to such a common phenomenon.

It's against the terms and conditions, and not "allowed." Have the photo and link been reported? Or just message board posts? If you report abuse using the system and only report the post itself, it could get removed by automation and the link nor photo ever be seen by a staffer. If you use the "none of the above," it will require a staffer read your description of the problem and you can not it's the profile, not a message board post. But for avatars, report the issue in the thread Ann linked.

Can you post a link to the user you're talking about?

Hello Tip Mable,

To report an abusive profile photo please see: https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topi...

If you are aware of further message board posts which are against our terms and conditions of use, please submit another abuse report.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi again. His account is currently disabled so the progressive disciplinary action is still...well, progressing? Thanks for adding the link.
