I'm a web developer and I've never come across a more frustrating search engine. It would be fine if it couldn't find what I was looking for, but time and again what I've typed in will not show up in the list until I hit enter, then low and behold it's at the top of the page that opens. What this means is that the search engine found what I was looking for but instead displayed matches that were similar but more popular and not what I'm looking for (until I hit enter). Virtually every other search engine on the planet just lists the closest matches. You must be using some weird algorithm that only lists the top hits instead of an exact match. For someone like me who often has a lot of searches to make, this wastes a lot of time. Why would you do this - to frustrate people? It makes no sense at all. Every other IMDB user I mention this to agrees that it's a pain in the ass and they don't like it either. WHY NOT JUST FIX IT???

Hi Richie Mann,

Based on your description it sounds like you're referring to the search suggestions. Please note that only the top popular names/titles are featured and
displayed in the search suggestions.

I don't care about auto-complete.  In Firefox and Chrome, I use keyboard shortcuts to go directly to full search results.  (Yes I have to type a couple of keystrokes before the query and hit the Enter key after, and wait a second or two for the results, but that doesn't bother me.)
