Inventory Summary ending figure for year-end accounting

Is there a way to run a Inventory report to show Inventory levels at one given time.. say 01/31/2009 - I have tried the Inventory movement Summary, but that does not calculate accurately. Also would be nice to have the $ value as well.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

The Inventory Movement Summary report should show you the amount you had on 1/31/2009 if you set the date filter to be From and To 1/31/2009. What inaccuracies are you seeing?

We currently don't have a report that can give you back-dated costs, but this a high priority item on our wishlist.

Stephen,

When I run that report - 1/31/2010 to 1/31/2010 - shows zero - If I add it as the whole month - it shows quantities there but there is the picked location.

Run it from blank to 1/31/2010... or alternatively 1/1/2001 to 1/31/2010. It does show the picked location, so you would have to ignore that.

Yes back-dated inventory valuation report using a "proper" accounting method (e.g. FIFO) would've been ideal. Cost of Goods Sold report would also be very useful for monthly and year-end accounting. Is there an ETA for those?

No ETA at the moment, sorry. We do see the value in this though.

Just to make this a little more clear, here's a picture of how it works:

- I would like to know the Inventory as of a given date and the purchase price of the items as of that date. So I would get an "On hand Stock as of date with Cost".

- I am also looking for info on what was the inventory (qty+cost) of items as on "A" date which have not been sold till "B" date.
say A = 1/4/2010, B = 20/09/2010
(say I had 20 units of Hammers @ 10$/each on 1/4 = 200$ , which were not sold by 20/9)

Can some one show me how.

- cheers

Yes Siobhan, I also saw above issue. As Stephen suggested we can get an Inventory 'stock as of' using that method, (I do that already) but no idea of the cost of inventory at that point. And since we started using inflow in April my Finance manager is after me to get that report, I am trying to get him the info using sql + excel, hopefully i succeed.

Since the issue is almost 7 months old, I dont know if there will be any progress unless more people request this feature.

cheers

Hi Sanjay,

Thanks for the clarification. You can try pulling a Product Cost Report in the same way as described above to get your unit costs. What you'll end up with is a list of the last few PO's for each item however if you sort them by date order you will be able to see the final cost for that product based upon the last purchase order.

My suggestion would be to export to excel for easy manipulation should it be required. Please do let us know if that helps to address your concern.

I see, unfortunately the inventory summary report can only give you the current inventory level, but not the level from a previous date. Only the movement reports allow you to generate reports on a previous date range.

Perhaps you can use the two types of reports to back track what you have on 30/10/2010. You can also check if you have a database backup file that was created on that date.

Hello all,

Just an update for anyone who's looking to grab this information we've created and posted a workaround to allow you to pull your information from the system and dump it into a CSV for your use. Please have a look at this article on the knowledge base: http://www.inflowinventory.com/Knowle... for the links and instructions and let us know if you have any trouble.

Cheers.
