item picture in sales quote

Is it possible that in sales quotations, you can also print the picture of the item? Since in the product info you can attach a picture of the item. That would be helpful for client who are trying to choose 2 models or styles of an item.

    • Dear Siobian ,

Glad to find your above suggested solution to Mr. Sunil Soni, Kindly lemme confirm one thing more that can we get the product picture on our sales quote . As our product picture is a mandatory part for invoice. So , i would like to have a prompt solution for the same.

      thanks !!
    • Hi Praveen,

At the moment this is not possible. You could certainly export your invoice to Word and add the picture there if you liked but the program doesn't have the ability to do that automatically at present. As you can see from the thread below there has been much discussion of a feature such as this and I would refer you to Stephen's comment (the second to last message in the string) for more information on the processing of this feature's potential availability.

      Thank you for your feedback!

Yes, It would be a great feature if inflow allows picture within reports or sales quote. As we have over 500 products it becomes difficult for the customers to see the sales quote and refer back to brochure or website for clarification.

Please add this as a top priority in the wishlist.

I guess it should be easy for Inflow to call the picture field in reports as the picture is stored in the SQL database. Please comment stephen?????

This feature will save our time by 90%

  • Perhaps you can create a "product spec sheet" printout with all the sales information about a product (but not the cost, vendor, etc. as we don't want customers to see that info), including the picture nice and large. Then there could be an option to print all product spec sheets as attachments to a sales order or quote.

  • Thanks for adding your feedback here. We can't guarantee that this feature will make it in; but we do promise to review and consider every suggestion for future versions. We have a great team here, but the reality of the situation is that software design (especially for many different users with many different needs) and development is much harder than most people would think. Most requests involve complexities or tradeoffs that need to be carefully considered, for example: will this slow down inFlow? will more printed space allocated for pictures hurt users who want to save paper? will asking people to make more choices frustrate and confuse new users?

As a result, some requests will be added, others will not. A few requests might be done in weeks; others may take years. We appreciate your feedback as well as your understanding, thank you!
    • Hi Stephen,

Though I am in full support of all that you say and consider the possible impacts you have noted:

Could it be a case, given that this functionality could be added, to have a specific template set up for each of" With Graph and Without Graphic. This would surely help to alleviate those who are mindful of printing heavy graphic files/paper; and appease those that have the need to utilise the graphics, on the understand that they may suffer some performance issues.

Obviously if there is the possibility to have the ability to include graphics in an output file then with impacting performance it would make everyone very happy (including you guys).

      Just a thought!
    • Thanks for the feedback Christine, the exchange of ideas in here has been very positive. As always we appreciate that our users are willing to be so open with us. I'll make sure that your suggestion is included in the working notes for this item so the developers can review.

      Thanks again!

My company supplies cutting tools and machine tools to engineering companies of all sizes from small family businesses to multi nationals. The nature of our business is that we are constantly creating flyers or catalog type pages of product lists. All the raw data is in the In Flow database, it's "just" a case of compiling the raw data to create a finished document. A document listing product details - description, price and a picture could be headed "Catalog" or "Quotation", depending on its end use. Might this be a way of satisfying the majority of needs with a simple format?

    Hi Pavlos,

I'm sorry we don't have any 3rd party softwares that integrate with inFlow at present though you can certainly export your reports and then add the pictures manually after the fact if that's something you'd like to pursue. From the reports window (let's say a product list, or an inventory summary report) you can export to PDF, Word, Excel or Excel data only. Presumably the best for this would likely be Word but there are several file types you can try.

Alternately you can export your entire list of products from the system via Main Menu > General > Export Data to CSV.

    I hope that helps!

    Hi Adam,

I can certainly understand how this would be frustrating for you if that functionality is something that your company is seeking out. We do take user feedback to heart and try to incorporate it or otherwise address a user's needs within the product. I'm afraid to do this properly it does take time and I am very sorry that it's causing you frustration, that is by no means our intention.

In the mean time, maybe if you let me know what it is your attempting we might be able provide an alternative or some guidance with respect to getting some of your information out of the system?

In the sample above by Ty Wellspeak he says he's using crystalreport but the code is a simple SQL inner join. If you don't program databases, it would look a little daunting...

I'm sure Access (Microsoft Office) can support some basic SQL.

  • I’m confused as to why it takes 3 years to consider if something is worth doing. There is an obvious market.
I think that not being able to add images to quotes or print off illustrated inventory reports is a major deal breaker for potentially hundreds of people.
It would be a great feature, I know you agree.
Also, what kind of functionality is there at present to re-arrange how a quote looks? Being able to choose which fields show up, and where, and the ability to add more columns of info into the quote would be a great way of allowing people to customise their quotes.

I can say for a fact that we would most likely purchase 20+ licenses straight away if there was the functionality to add images to quotations, as at present we spend AGES doing this manually where in reality it should be an automated task.

  • Hi Andrew,

I can understand why this is frustrating, many of the users in this thread have asked for the ability to include images in their documentation is a necessity for their business and at the moment, while it is on the wishlist, we have no plans to put this into production. Your suggestion about custom documents is certainly very interesting and I can include it on the wishlist item but as we've mentioned before we do have to prioritize those features which are going to provide the most to the user-base as a whole. That doesn't mean that this won't be something that we introduce (which is why we've added it to the wishlist) but it DOES mean that it's not something we're working on right now.

In the mean time, you did mention the desire to control the look and feel of your documentation and there is an article here: http://www.inflowinventory.com/softwa... which talks about how you can use custom documentation in concert with custom fields to include information that would not otherwise appear on your document. You should also be able to control where certain fields of information appear and should you have any trouble or wish to have any feedback on the process please feel free to get in touch with us at support@inflowinventory.com, we're happy to take a look and provide guidance or support.

Thank you for getting in touch and for your comments, I really do hope that this helps to clarify the current position on this and please let us know if there's anything further you'd like to discuss.

    All the best,

Thanks for your response, it's a shame you are not implemeting this, as it is the most popular idea in the suggestions box by a fair bit, and having looked around a fair bit, there seem to be very few (if any) companies offering this option as far as I can see which would be a very strong selling point for many people.
    Fingers crossed for future functionality.

  • We hear your concerns, and I wanted to shed some light on why we haven’t done this yet.

Our long-term vision is to have a drag-and-drop interface for customizing documents that’s easy enough that anybody can use it. Currently, we’re using a third-party component called Crystal Reports for inFlow’s documents which works well enough, but won’t let us take document customization to the next level. That’s why we set up custom documents using Microsoft Word, which is easier for people to use but limited in its flexibility.

So to get to that drag-and-droppable vision, we’d have to replace Crystal Reports altogether, which would be a major undertaking. And in the meantime, building more on top of a component we plan to replace feels like a bad investment, particularly for major changes like adding new templates with pictures. That’s why we’re focusing on adding new functionality like serial numbers instead.

We do concentrate our work on what we think will have the biggest impact for the community as a whole, given resource constraints, and while you may disagree with our decisions, I hope this helps you to understand how we’ve come to this decision.

I’ve updated this topic to "Not Planned" to better reflect that while we’re very much aware of the desire for pictures on quotes/invoices and hope to address it in the future, we don't have any work immediately planned for it.

It is proprietary (owned by Seagate) and as far as I know it's still closed source.
I've found it to be nothing more then a buggy, problem-generating, restrictive bit of software that should just be done away with. IMO

Was Crystal Reports used because some accounting software use it?

    • ah the dilemmas of development... :)
    • And sometimes the regret. ;P

I recall using MS Access as the building block for one customer database, because it seemed so convenient at the time...
In hindsight, I know for that particular case it would've been faster for me to scratch build the entire thing using Lazarus (the Pascal IDE), and have few to no problems afterwards, and excellent portability.

I see its now been over 4 years since this topic was first introduced, Though I am recently new to InFlow, I have been looking into a program that will fill my needs for almost 7 years now.I looked at InFlow several times in the past but kept passing on it for several reasons I will not go into here. So I just brute forced my way through using all the MS Office software (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point and Publisher), and even attempting to develop my own inventory program system, I can understand the delays and pitfalls of adding different functionality and customization options to a standing product. I finally grew too big to keep going at this the hard way so I tried almost every inventory software version on the market settling on InFlow for now. Its a great product and so far I have been able to do much with it.

However, given the products current version and its use by small to mid-sized businesses as a base, I am having trouble understanding what additional features would be more more important than adding a new feature that many people would jump at.There are many good uses and ideas on how to add or implement this feature above. Heck even adding a function that would take you directly to MS Word or Excel with prompts to add photos in template locations would be better than doing nothing, Which is what has happened so far.

Though this string is dedicated to adding photos to existing documents in the program, this all falls under customization and functionality. The standard line that its "not planned for" or "its not a priority" or the ever popular "its difficult to program into our system" loses it luster after 4 years of putting it off. That its on your wishlist is no comfort at all. Its very frustrating when even after all this time it is not consider a priory given all the requests for it. If you are just looking at this string to see the number of people wanting this feature then understand that less than 1% of people actually post comments at all. I hope you do more than take this under advisement or add my concerns to the list, because I am still looking for that one program that will do what I want it to do and so far InFlow has done more than most. But if this problem is not addressed soon and another product actually succeeds, then I will be moving and you would have lost a valued customer, and I am sure I wont be the only one. Please make this a priority, 4 years is a long time to wait for someone to just say wait some more.Saying some day, some day really means nothing. There's a saying "Someday road leads to the town of No Where."

Sorry for the rant but I hope you understand my frustration. I hope you work out all the issues for this product because if you do I can see good things ahead for everyone.

I am 100% agree with you this is most required feature I am also handling two-three programs to cover price quote to invoice and it took time consuming for data copy paste one to another. I am still waiting for this feature that is image in sales quote.
I have tried their beta version v3 of inflow and sad it doesn't cover this feature in new release.
