Stock Transfer Process

We would find it convenient to have a process to schedule stock transfer between locations. Example:
1) Stock transfer request is created
2) location 1 prints out stock transfer request, which is brought to location 2
3) Stock is removed from location 2, the request sheet is signed as received by the driver and this is recorded in inflow as a picking step.
4) Stock is brought to location 1, the request sheet is signed as received by the receiving staff and this is recorded as a "put away" step in inflow.

Right now stock transfer is a single step, and I don't see a way to print a supporting document.

Hi Eliyak,

Thanks for the suggestion, it sounds like this could be a very useful item so we'll place it in the queue to be evaluated for addition.

Cheers.

Can I use the import option to Transfer stock?

Technically you can, but if you're transferring stock you would need to import twice.

Let's say you have 30 pieces of Item A in Location 1 and you want to transfer 15 to Location 2. If you simply import 15 pieces of Item A into Location 2 you will end up with 45 pieces total (which is incorrect). When you do a transfer there are two things happening:

1. Stock in Location 1 is being reduced by 15.
2. Stock in Location 2 is being increased by 15.

So your import file must be set up accordingly. For this particular change you would want the file to look like this:

Hope that helps!

This has been very helpful.

Most of my data is already available on a custom system so I will be importing most of my data. However most inventory systems available do not recommend importing - importing will alleviate entering data twice.

Thank You.

I know that his topic is old, but I wanted to see how this implementation is going.

My small business is starting to grow and I foresee this issue of having no supporting documents between transfers between stores and my warehouse.

I would LOVE to see more features to the Transfer of Stock module, since its a very delicate part of any business.

Hi Juan,

Thanks for checking in and for lending your voice to the thread! This is definitely something that's on the wishlist but in terms of updates we're still working diligently away. At present we don't have a release date for any new versions but rest assured we'll be shouting it from the rooftops when we do!

Thanks again and please do let us know if there's anything we can help with in the mean time!

Cheers.

Hi Tapiwa,

Stock transfers in the current version don't have documentation but it's something we're introducing as of Version 3.0. To get a look on how that will work once Version 3.0 becomes available please see here: http://www.inflowinventory.com/Blog/i....

In the mean time, you can get a full list of the items in your transfer stock window by right-clicking on the title line and choosing to export to CSV.

This will give you a list that you can use to create a document or for reference later on if you require it!

Hope that helps
