How do I get music onto my phone?

  • Question
  • Updated 4 years ago
I have read all of the instructions and was told in store that my phone (INQ 3G) had everything it needs to sync music onto it. I downloaded DoubleTwist and PC Suite and neither will recognize that my phone is plugged in via USB. I tried changing the settings in my phone to the ones I was directed but they're not even there! I would really love to be able to get some music on here-can anybody help me?

Hi Pascal

You will need a memory card inserted into your handset to make doubletwist work.

Do you have one in the handset?

Same problem here, went back to the store where I bought it and they even checked to make sure my memory card was working correctly and it was. This is the most frustrating phone I have ever owned. I would never recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately, I am now locked in a plan. The 3G sucks!

Hello Bella

Does your PC recognise that the handset is connected (ie is in Device Manager)?

Are you using windows?

If it does show up in device manager as the INQ mass storage device, but doesent show up as a drive on your computer, it means windows failed to assign it a drive letter properly, this is a known quirk with windows.

You need to go Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management and assign it an unused letter manually.

Lastly when you are connected to your PC and doubleTwist have you enabled file transfer?

Let me know how you get on.

You need to go to an electronics shop and get a micro mini card to insert in to your phone. The card is similar to an sd card that is used in a camera. The card accepts the music you place on to it and basically stores it so your phone has access to it to then play it. You cannot download music without it. We got ours at Future Shop and with the micro card came also an adaptor for use in a usb port. The phone does not come with this card.

Hi Bella

Have you worked through the steps I outlined above?

If it did not work can you tell me where it failed. Please also can you tell which operating system you are using.

Thanks

I've noticed on the specs for the INQ Chat 3G it supports up to 4GB however the INQ Mini 3G supports up to 8GB of added memory.

Is it true the Chat 3G is limited to 4GB and doesn't support 8GB high capacity micro SD cards??

Yes I have followed all the steps. DoubleTwist will NOT recognize the phone. Manually assignation does not work.

Hi

Open doubletwist on your PC, then connect the handset (with the Micro SD card in the handset) via USB to the computer. Doing that you should get a pop up box giving you a range of options (Mobile Modem, PC Suite, File Transfer, doubleTwist and help). Click the File Transfer option. If you get another pop up box asking which action you want to take press 'Take No Action'. This will enable file transfer between the handset and the PC.

Now do a network scan on doubleTwist.

The PC should now pick up the handset.

Open "My Computer" look for the drive with an INQ logo, right click "AutoPlay".

Hello

Bella: Can you confirm if Richards advice worked please. If it did not can you confirm what the size and make of your MicroSD card is. When you say manually assigning a drive letter does not work what do you mean exactly, are you unable to manually assign the drive letter?

Bryan: Can you confirm you have a memory card inserted into the handset. Can you also give some information as to where exactly the process is not working.

Can you please both let me know which operating system you are using.

Thanks

I watched the woman put a card in the phone by the battery when I bought it. Is that the memory card or do I have to buy something different? My computer is operating on windows xp. When I bought the phone I was told it had everything I would need to put music on it.I downloaded Doubletwist to my pc but when I plug my phone in it doesn't show up anywhere on doubletwist so I can drag songs to it.

No, Richard's advice did not work. The woman at Future Shop took out my memory card and took a picture with it on her phone and when I put the card back into my phone, the pic showed up no problem. I have Windows XP on my PC and Windows 7 on my laptop-- double twist doesn't pick up the device at all.
