Twitter app causing Chat 3G to crash

I've noticed a lot of messages here about e-mail causing the Chat 3G to crash, but I've been having problems with the Twitter app causing crashes.

When I start the Twitter app I get to the 'Please sign in' screen without any problems, but once I've logged in the phone gets incredibly slow, making it impossible to do anything. After 10 minutes or so of trying to update my Twitter feed the phone restarts itself, sometimes multiple times.

I've tried logging out of e-mail before I start Twitter to make sure that it's not the same known e-mail fault that's causing it, but the crashes still occur.

I've downloaded the updated (& slightly buggy) e-mail app, which hasn't had any effect on Twitter, so the two problems aren't related. Some sort of response from anyone at INQ would be very much appreciated.

Hi StevieG
Sorry to hear your INQ Chat isn't behaving as it should. We'd had reports from other users who were experiencing restarts, which we'd traced to the email client. But maybe you have a different problem.

You say the email update has had no effect on Twitter - does always it run slow as soon as you've signed in, and then reboot after 10 mins? It would be useful to understand what other apps you have running (Facebook? email? Skype? WLM?). Also to know what happens if you sign out of each of these (make sure you log out/sign out rather than just exit; for email, you need to delete each email account you've set up).

If you're still seeing the problem with Twitter please let me know - we haven't come across this previously, so would probably need to take a closer look.

Look forward to hearing from you.

thanks
Martin

It appears I was wrong about it not being related to the e-mail problem. I deleted all of my e-mail accounts, and although the phone still becomes unresponsive for brief periods while Twitter is loading, it no longer crashes.

Thank you for your help.

Steve.

The phone restarts when there is too much running for the phone to handle: usually when you turn on the phone and everything starts to log in.

If you leave the phone until Twitter has finished loading, then it should not be unresponsive.

Having disabled email to see if the problem is with Twitter, I'd be interested to know if the problems recur when you turn email back on again. Could you do this, and let me know how you get on?

thanks

Unfortunately, after logging back into e-mail the problem has returned. I'm not running any other apps, just e-mail.
