Is there a way to grab the short URL (e.g. http://instagr.am/p/BhA/) via the app or web?

I'd like the ability (if it isn't one already) to grab the short URL if I don't push to Twitter/Tumblr too. Tap & hold then bringing up a "copy URL" bar seems intuitive, IMO. It'd be nice to be able to construct a more creative tweet & have a simple photo description. :)

Definitely--we're working on the ability to share a photo even after it's been posted to your Instagram feed, and from there you'll have more flexibility in composing your Tweet/Tumblr post, send by Email, and also copy the URL.

I just tweeted about this too, as the app failed to cross-post to Twitter and it seems there's no current way of sharing if it wasn't done automatically. Grabbing a URL would be handy and being able to edit the tweet before sending would be nice too.

I agree. Theres also no way of going back to a photo, AFTER its posted and to share it on Twitter, incase you forgot to check it off. Simply being able to copy/paste the url would help fix this.

Will be looking out for an update, otherwise, its a really nice app!

How long do we have to wait for this feature? This is a big miss in my opinion, and something that should be fixed quickly. The first photo I posted, I was hoping to share without using Twitter/Facebook/etc. but there was no URL. So I posted a second time (even though I had to select the original and apply a filter again, instead of an existing Instagram photo) in order to get the URL via Twitter. Once I went to the image, it showed my name and said I had 3 photos, but I can't browse to any other photos without the URL, and I can't get a URL unless I publish to Twitter, etc. What gives? This is extremely frustrating. I think it's a great app, but completely useless if you want to share your photos. The only way to view even YOUR OWN photos on the web is to publish and make sure you save the URL. This is terrible and should be fixed quickly, or this app will lose popularity pretty quickly. It already has with me.

True, I feel Instagram is still in a beta of sorts, a lot of people had high expectations for it, but to be honest, TiltShiftGen and Twitter is far more convenient and flexible for my needs, and probably will be sticking to that.

I just don't feel the need to have different apps for what I already do, and the filters are just too gimmicky, finding people to follow isn't easy (I don't know who's in the Instagram community—or if it is meant to be a community? If not, I guess I'm really failing to see the purpose of it—maybe someone can let me know why I'm here :]

A glaring omission, I think.
I see a photo, I want to share it, but can’t.

I agree. Plus, for some reason, some of the pictures I took are not appearing on my iPhone photo Library. There is no way for me to share them again or sync them with my iPhone. :(

You've got a great App here, just need some fixes. Please do :)

Just as an update to this topic, these features -- sharing by email and grabbing short URLs for your own photos even after they are uploaded -- will be included in the next version of Instagram. We hope to have the new version out very shortly. Thanks, everyone, for your feedback and patience.

Had the same problem here: not all photos I've uploaded shows in my Camera Roll, and I can't get an url for sharing this ones. I think that a URL with all our photos would be awesome, like instagr.am/photos/username or something like that. Please consider that! :D

Where do I click to get an image's short URL? I tried clicking the photo, the time stamp, and the new [...] (flag) feature.

hey there, please note that you can only share via email and get the short URL for your own photos, not for other users' photos.

Guys, when you choose 'Copy share URL', this URL text will be store into your iPhone clipboard.
As for how to 'get it out' from the clipboard, you have to 'paste' it somewhere. Any Textbox that can accept writing can do paste. Try it in your Notes, for example.

For some reason not all of my photos are also making it to my camera roll. I've got two photos that I can't actually access to do anything with, because it wasn't copied to the Camera Roll. Will there be a way to view user profiles via Web? When I see a URL for my image, I can't click on my profile to see the rest of my images. Will this change soon?

Hi Ben,

This is a bug in version 1.0 that has been fixed in the latest release of Instagram. Please go to the App Store and update your app to version 1.0.3. The new version has a new icon, so you should be able to tell right away whether you're seeing the latest version in the App Store.

http://itunes.com/apps/instagram/

Please note that after updating, you'll see a "..." button to the bottom right of your photos -- tapping that button will allow you to share your photos via email or grab the short URL for a photo, which you can use to give yourself access to the photos you've already uploaded outside of Instagram.
