I'm having trouble with photos not saving to my camera roll - it's driving me crazy as I can't seem to get/download the originals anywhere else. :(

Anyone else having this issue?

I've got the same issue... was really hoping to upload the photos to my mac, but they're not showing up in my camera roll... If anyone figures out a workaround, that'd be great. I'm on an iPhone 3G with 4.1. Thanks. --Stefem

I think we have an issue when the phone runs out of memory it doesn't save to the roll. We'll fix this in the next version. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience right now.

Good news is that our web interface will allow you to fetch your photos soon -- so don't worry, they haven't been lost forever.

If you want to keep originals, go into your settings app on the iphone and click instagram. You'll see the option to save originals there -- that should work, though they won't be the filtered versions.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience, we're working on it! Thanks for hanging with us!

If this is true, then I'll regain faith in the product. Lets see how long it takes to turnaround.

Is there a way to get our photos from logging in VIA the internet? I'm so upset that most of my photos haven't saved to my camera roll

But Instagram only saves the cropped and reduced picture...!? I would like to have the original saved first, without any alterations...

What I usually do now is take picture with the standard camera app, then load that in Instagram, apply a filter and then post it -- would be much nicer to have Instagram save the pics in the backrgound...

I always use the native app to take the picture and then use Instagram to play with the photos.

As a "safeguard", I'll also always post the image to Flickr, which seems to be working (as in, it seems to always save to Flickr, even if it doesn't save to my Camera Roll).

Again, we'll have a fix for this in the next version, so all your photos should save to your camera roll. The next version will also allow you to send photos via email and grab the short URL for a photo even after you've uploaded it. Apologies for the inconvenience -- and again, we'll have a fix out very shortly!

Not currently, but in the next version -- in addition to fixing this bug so that all photos save to your camera roll -- we'll allow you to send photos via email and grab the short URL for a photo even after you've uploaded it.

Hey everyone,

This is a bug in version 1.0 that we believe has been fixed in the latest release of Instagram. Please go to the App Store and update your app to version 1.0.2. The new version has a new icon, so you should be able to tell right away whether you're seeing the latest version in the App Store.

http://itunes.com/apps/instagram/

Please note that after updating, you'll see a "..." button to the bottom right of your photos -- tapping that button will allow you to share your photos via email or grab the short URL for a photo, which you can use to give yourself access to the photos you've already uploaded outside of Instagram.

On the new Instagram app update (yesterday), there's new option where you can either: email the image or copy an url. What I did was to copy the URL and paste it in Safari, let 'em load the image then hold the image and save it to your roll. Simple.

If you open up instagram app (only if you update to the newer version), on each of your own photos, underneath it you'll see three dots (...) and it shows: Copy share URL and Email Photo. FYI, for some reason, it does not allow you to copy or email someone's photo, just yours. Hope this helps :)
