How does it work and how often is it updated?

how often is 'how sociable' updated? is it dynamic? What is the basis of the ratings? eg which elements of which sites are searched for terms?

  • Hi!

We have an explanation of how the rating is calculated here: http://howsociable.wordpress.com/2008...

We're currently updating the scores everyday. When you request a new brand it is done immediately while you wait.

The site is being developed on an ongoing basis, we hope to add more advanced features in the near future.

Please let us know if there is anything specific you would like to see.
    • Thanks for that. I was just trying out various things on various sites to see if they were picked up. They weren't and so I was wondering why. It seems some are not picked up by inurl searches on Yahoo but I wanted to know if theyy should be picked up by howsociable. For example I wondered which bits of facebook were searched as in my case something I know is there was not coming up.

Sorry if that is a bit garbled!

      David

  • Hi David. We're using a range of methods for searching the different sites and they'll continue to evolve over the coming weeks. Given the way that many social networking sites keep much of their data out of view from search engines it is unlikely that HowSociable will ever find everything. However, we are focused on doing the best job possible so you may find, in time, that HowSociable becomes more effective than alternative approaches of spotting things. Sorry we can't be more specific about how it works. I hope this helps.
