Ion AIR LP buzzing sound - needs grounding??

Dear Ion Staff

I have just bought the ion Air LP. I am finding as soon as lift teh needle to play and the wheel rotates, i always get the buzz sound. Soon as I put the needle back into the holder (as soon as record stops rotating) the buzz stops. Its sounds like it needs grounding - but there is no ground wire. This happens for all outputs ( blutooth, headphones and phono audio outputs). Any advice before I return?

thanks

Bindesh

  • HI,

    Thanks for posting!

Please make sure that you are connecting the turntable to a grounded 3-prong outlet. If necessary, try different outlets.

You may also want to check that the stylus and cartridge are still in tact and connected fully in case something came loose while transfering the product.

If you still have trouble, I'd recommend reaching out to our support team directly for more troubleshooting. Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the ION Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Hey, same problem here. It is connected to a grounded 3-prong outlet but the hum is still there. Stylus/cartridge seem to be in tact and connected. It gets slightly better when I touch the metal tonearm with my finger. But still very audible.
