I checked the other questions about "Only one channel of stereo coming through" but I am running on Windows 10 and there seems to be some differences.
I was running on Windows 8 and stereo was fine - I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 and there is only channel coming through on the EZ Vinyl converter

Hi Simon,
Sorry you're having problems with your software. I'll be happy to help!
First let's make sure you're using the latest version of the EZ Vinyl Tape Converter software from the link here.
Next, please follow the steps below to properly configure your audio settings:

Playback Settings
1. Click the Start button.

4. Double Click Sound, the Sound Settings window will open.
5. Under the Playback Tab click on your computer's sound card and speakers.
6. Choose Realtek.
7. Click Set Default at the bottom of the window.
Important: Make sure the USB Audio Codec/USB PnP Audio Device is NOT your Default playback device.
Windows 7, 8 and 10 Recording Settings
1. Click on the Recording Tab.
2. Click on Microphone USB (Codec, PnP, Array).
3. Click Set Default.
4. Click Properties on the bottom of that window - Microphone Properties window will open.

Hi
Thanks for the reply, but it hasn't fixed the problem. The sound is only coming through the right speaker.
For Win 10, I don't have Microphone USB, it's Microphone Array.
If I set the Levels to 5, the sound is very low.
The sample rate is grayed out and I can't change it.
Regards,
Simon Griffiths -

Hi
Your tech support for Europe gives a UK and Germany number.
Is there a toll-free number for your European support desk? I'm in South Africa.
Or is there a South African number I can call? -
-
Hi Simon,
I'm sorry, but we do not have a support office in South Africa. Please connect with our office in Europe or Germany for assistance. I have included their numbers below, for your convenience:

Hello
I will have to make an international call for this support. Do you have a toll-free number? -
-
All of our contact information will be found at the link from my post above. Thanks!

Thanks Bill - I saw the Europe number but I'm in South Africa and would have to make an international call to get support, that's why I asked about a toll-free number.

Hi - does your German support centre have an email address? The only time I can test this out is on weekends.
Other forums suggest that upgrading from Win 8 to Win 10 can corrupt audio drivers. Have you had any confirmation of that? -
-
Hi again
I reinstalled the audio driver on my HP Probook and that fixed one problem, but there is another now:
- the problem fixed is that the Ion player is now recording on my laptop, however it is recording in mono, not stereo
- the new problem is that after about 12 seconds it says 'recording finished', Why would the EZ player software stop recording? -
-
It sounds like your audio is not setup properly, and that you have the split tracks feature enabled. When this box is checked off the software will automatically advance the recording to the next track when it detects 4-6 seconds of silence This option can be toggled on or off.
Note: This feature may not function properly on certain types of recordings such as spoken word, live recordings, and classical music. Songs with break downs and gaps of silence could trick the software into thinking the track is over and advance it to the next song prematurely. In this case is it best to un-check the box and record the songs manually
Once the GAIN is set to the proper level and you have toggled the Split recordings into tracks function on or off, click on the record button to start recording your audio.
To properly configure your audio, please go through the steps I'd suggested above. Thanks! -

Thanks for your help.
At last I can record an entire track without it cutting off in the middle.
However, the issue of just recording on one channel was not resolved by the process you documented. The right channel on the PC is the only channel that shows sound when I'm recording, but it seems to be taking both channels from the player.
So basically I get a mono recording on the right side channel.
I don't know what the problem is, but it started when I migrated to Windows 10 -
-
Sorry to hear you're still having issues. I can assure you this is not a compatibility issue, as both the hardware and software are supported for use on Windows 10. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the software, then going through the audio configuration guide I'd provided you above.
Let me know how it goes. -
-
Thanks.
I've already done all your suggested actions, and all I get is the one channel recording on the right channel.
I'm now lost for a solution, and wondering what other options there are. -
-
Sorry to hear you're still having issues. I understand you've said making a call is difficult, as you're located in South Africa. However, at this point, you will need to get in touch with your nearest Support Office for further assistance in this matter. You can email support by navigating to that link.

Hi Bill.
I too have Windows 10, but don't have Microphone USB (Codec, PnP, Array) as a recording option. I'm only getting mono from my ION turntable. (Worked fine under earlier Windows OS.) Can you help? I'm in the U.S.
PJ-
It sounds like your turntable isn't being properly recognized by your computer. Make sure you're using the latest version of the EZ Vinyl Tape Converter software. You can download this from www.ionaudio.com/ezvc. Have you tried using another USB port or cable with your computer? If you're still having issues, please get in touch with your nearest Support Office for further assistance. You can find their contact information on that page.

Hi - I just wondered there had been any tech fixes for this problem since i logged it earlier this year. Even though I've recently re-installed Windows 10 on my machine, and I've followed all the suggestions re. sound and playback, Ion is only recording via the right hand channel.
Any further ideas to the ones already posted above?
BTW I am using an HP Probook 450 -
-
I haven't gotten a response from ION Support.
I'm going to see if I can get it working under Linux which is my preferred OS.

Hi - I recently re-installed Windows 10 on my machine, but that hasn't fixed the one channel recording problem.
I see that the EZ Vinyl installation file hasn't been updated for quite a while. Is there a fairly new version?
I'm still surprised this problem is still not fixable. I have followed all the steps suggested before in terms of setting up and configuring playback and recording but that doesn't solve the problem. -
-
I had the exact same problem and nothing seemed to fix it until I changed the driver settings through the Control Panel and not the useless Settings interface in Win 10.
First off, with the turntable connected to your computer via the USB cable, turn the turntable power off. Next, go to your Control Panel and select "Hardware and Sound" > "Manage audio devices" > "Recording" tab.
Select the Microphone with USB Audio Codec, click on Properties. Select the Advanced tab. You will see a drop down selection under Default Format, select "2 channel" and whatever quality, I picked the highest. Click on Apply or OK. Turn the turntable power On.
This should fix your problem, it did for me. I'd test it using Audacity or something similar, but the EZ Vinyl app should work also. Hope that fixes your problem!-
Thanks, William!
