Solar Stone - Intermittent and continuous "Power On" - "Power Off"

I have a "Solar Stone" speaker that I received as a gift September 2016. It worked fine for about a month, but recently, the "Power On", "Power Off" audio voice is intermittently notifying us that the speaker powers itself on and off continuously, whether we have it indoors or outdoors. Is this anything that anyone else is experiencing? It's not only annoying for us but for our neighbors. It's very loud.

  • Hi Iven,

Thanks for posting. Sorry to hear you're having issues.

Just to make sure I'm understanding your inquiry correctly, is your Solar Stone actually powering on and off at random? Are you using it indoors or outdoors? What color is the charging LED? Note, your speaker will take about 6 hours to charge via the included AC Adapter, or about 55 hours via the solar panel.

  • Thanks Bill,

Yes, your summary is correct. The speaker is powering on and off randomly. We have used it both indoors and outdoors, and we have fully charged it with the AC adaptor when indoors (charge indicator light was red until fully charged). When outdoors, we placed it where it gets at least 12 hours full sun.

Initially, we enjoyed using it, but after 2 months, without being connected via bluetooth, we would hear it in the middle of the night powering on and off. Neighbors complained about it startling them so we brought it inside. I tried rebooting it by using a paper clip on the reset button, but to no avail. We finally had to put it back in the original packaging and put it in the garage until the battery discharged completely so as to keep it from disturbing us.

    Any suggestions?

  • Thanks for the clarification, Iven.

It sounds like this may be hardware-related. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction to help you out!  Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty Claim or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto www.ionaudio.com/support.  Select Warranty Claim or Service Inquiry from the drop-down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office. Their office contact numbers are listed on that page.

    I hope this helps!

  • This happened with ours as well. In order to keep them On we had to keepe them plugged in, which defeats the purpose for us - having to set them near an outlet. And now, even plugged in, only one of them powers On and the other won't connect to our phones for music.
We've only had these since early March and used them only since late March.
Also, we did power them for 6+ hours at the beginning.

  • Us as well. It must be a known issue by now. Yes, I'll contact support, but as much as we loved our solar stone in the beginning, it's pretty annoying now.
