Cisco 9865 / Cox contour II compatibility

Pro license customer here. Before I trade-up my current Cable Box to a Cox Contour box, I need to be sure I can still control it with irule via IR and global cache. I'm told my Cox market provides a Cisco Explorer 9865.
Anyone know for sure if I'm OK or not? Thanks

  • You can Browse Devices and look for a Cox Contour. Sometimes cable boxes are listed by the Manufacturer and their model number instead of the Cable Provider. There may also be a Device that a customer has provided on the Customer tab in the Browse Devices box in the Builder. If you can find the IR codes on the internet, it is not terribly difficult to create your own Device and copy and paste in the IR codes.

You can also contact iRule Support directly at support@iruleathome.com. They respond to emails pretty quickly.

  • Thanks, just seeing this now. I was told by the guy at the Cox store that the Contour uses RF signals, not IR. Now I'm waiting for them to contact me saying that I'm being forced to "upgrade" to contour, at which time I won't be able to use rule for my TV so I'll have a great excuse to cut the cable.
