While the selected state update is great, it would be nice if the button state could be controlled by feedback. That is if a device button is changed locally, Irule would follow it. Now of course that means the device must be able to send status updates but some can.
An alternative would be to have feedback print images in addition to text. This way you could have a pilot light that is turned on with feedback.
Presently I accomplish this with text just printing the ON or OFF state via feedbcak but it's not as elegant as feedback controlled button states would be.

Hi,
Feedback-driven images are definitely in the plans.
Multi-state images and variables were both prerequisites for this functionality. Now that the groundwork is laid with both of those pieces of functionality, next will be moving on to things like feedback-driven image states and eventually conditional logic.
Thanks for your input!!!

I have been looking for a mechanism to do this as well. This functionality would allow for huge flexibility and incredibly clean interfaces in complex setups. the issue im having has to do with Vera integration at the moment and getting a "clean" interface to display feedback of say light states around the house. it would be fantastic we could assign a button to "light" up representing the light locations around the house which would change states depending on the current feedback received and at the same time the buttons could be used to actually turn the lights /on off for example. this is a simple example but there are so many cases were this feature would allow for very polished user interfaces. Any chance this might be on the plans for 2014?
Fantastic product by the way! hats off to the Irule team. -

That would be a great feature if images were to change based on feedback but aside from that, some logic may need to be involved. Such as, if/then variables to poll for status and change images based on that. I'm not sure if iRule is planning logic based variables. Question is: do the feedbacks we have now have a variable star next to it? I've not looked to see if you can do anything with a feedback variable.

Just wondering if feedback controlled variables are still in the pipeline. It would also be nice to allow macros in a toggle button! That way I can request feedback at the same time a button is toggled.

Hello,
I just want to let you know, that I am too waiting for this. I have a home page showing state of my amp, and souce selected, mute status, power status. I use text under my button to do that. Having this idea implemented will give me, same functionnality and a nicer look -

This functionality now seems to be available but I'm having issues. The set variable feature of the tokanized feedback function does not seem to work, is anybody having the same problem ?

I'm also having trouble with this. I first tried changing an image based on power state, then decided to try changing a label called POWER from white to red based on feedback from my AV receiver. Haven't had luck yet. I'm not sure if I'm getting the variable string correctly since I'm only guessing at what the feedback looks like.

After you set the variable on the feedback you are looking to match the replace with field.
For example: Onkyo Receiver Power feedback would be POWER ON or POWER OFF for the right hand operator fields. -
